What is getting abused on D mean to you?

Do you realize that Harden gave up a TOTAL of 6 points last night.

No one he defended 1 on 1 could score on him.

Stop repeating an old and baseless narrative.

I appreciate you starting this thread. Harden is becoming our defensive leader right before our eyes. He’s absolutely incredible.

I already previously acknowledged that if those stats are accurate, then harden had a good defensive game and we need them coming

however that is one game and via the 5 years been watching him, he is a sub par defender

my def of abused is just giving up unnecessary and easy buckets (missed assignments, not getting back on d, taking unnecessary risks like a matador). There were many games where harden would go off for 30+ but give up 25 to the scrub he is guarding whom normally scores 12

if he can become a 2 way player, we will be golden

Then you need to watch the games better.

Harden is already an elite post defender. ELITE not solid.

Harden is also an elite disruptor.

And now Harden has improved his perimeter defense.

Playing "solid" D is an ignorant take. Harden's defense is ALREADY beyond solid right now.

Is he perfect, of course not, but if Harden has someone blow by him then he gets roasted ad nauseum. No one puts that much effort and vehemence if it happens to Russ or Lebron or Kawhi.

Hell PJ loses his man regularly because he is not perfect, even though he is top defender.

Do you understand that Rockets ability to lead NBA in creating turnovers (meaningless stats like steals, deflections, blocks) is reason why winning rebounding battle is not required for team to not only win, but dominate?

Harden had a very solid defensive game last night and for the most part since “small ball” has been in effect he’s been far more engaged on that end for sure. Probably having Russ to take a lot of pressure off him on the offensive end has allowed him to focus/exert more energy there.

    all stats matter

may point was that just because someone gets steals doesn’t mean they are a good defender. Lots to evaluate when determining if a player a an good individual defender

Yes, we all know that you are oblivious to the finer or even obvious points of basketball.

Go back to your Russ for MVP myopia.

no one is claiming that Harden is a good defender only because he gets steals...everyone and their momma knows that getting steals isn’t enough to call someone a positive defender...Harden does so much more than “get steals”

“AI got steals, but he wasn’t a good defender”...yeah, no sh*t...dude was barely 6 ft and was a stick figure built like Monta Ellis...it’s hard for someone like that to have a presence on defense aside from getting steals...he couldn’t do anything in the paint, he couldn’t get through screens, and most players could just shoot over him...he also didn’t really care about defense

To be fair to Harden detractors, if he was more efficient on offense, there'd be no need to be clutch, as the game wouldn't have been close.

    What game was this.....specifically
You vague....people are saying...umh....alot of times....
    I now am seeking specifics
Cause it seems like you just rolling a narrative you like to believe.

    Dismissing stats
Then saying "if" to stats presented.
    Etc

At this point.....just thinking you want to support your narrative...which is fine
But know.... we not buying it.

Harden is one of the most efficient offensive players in history of the league.

If our own fans turn on him when he has an off night then how can we blame non-fans and media who have less familiarity?

Doesn't mean he's off limits to any sort of criticism, though. Do some posters skew negatively (to the extreme) on this board? Absolutely.

But Harden isn't perfect, and he definitely had a bad game against the Celtics, even though he played well in some parts of the game too.

Off topic. I'm not resource saavy like some terrific people on this board. Is this the scenario? Covit19 survived being boiled at hundreds of degrees then ingested?
