Houston-Boston deal involving Shane Battier not happening, says source close to situation - @ChrisMannixSI /thread
If you look at the trade from the Boston perspective, it's not so much who they won't trade, it's who they can't trade. In addition to Perkins, Big Baby also falls into the can't category- not without getting another power forward from somewhere. If Houston is potentially losing Battier anyway after this season, it may make them more willing to be flexible. The Celtics need to compensate them, and might not have the right assets to make a deal. I doubt Houston wants Nate Robinson (though he could be used to match contracts in a multi player deal). It seems like Bradley, Erden, and a pick or picks are pieces Houston might like.
They aren't giving up any core players but I like that Rookie center... I also read NJ has their backup plan, maybe Morey is about to pull a huge gutting of the team. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=46576fp
Avery Bradley, 20yr old rookie, was ranked as the #4 recruit out of the 2009 high school class by rivals.com - in the 2010 NBA Draft was projected as a lottery to mid 1st rounder ranging from 11th-16th pick, but dropped to 19th on draft night.. His a combo guard, who can play both PG/SG, standing at 6'3 with a 6'7.25 wingspan and amazing explosiveness. He came into the 2010 NBA Draft (many thought to early) as lock down defender and spot up 3 point shooter, but scouts think his talent(if improved handle) will eventually grow into becoming a full time PG ala Russell Westbrook. He has gotten very little playing time in Boston in the 17 games he played this season explaining his very underwhelming stats. Here are some highlights of Avery Bradley: <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/F0q8j6rrCuE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I knew Morey wouldn't giftwrap a valuable piece to the Celtics in return for trash. He is not "classy" like some of you guys claim to be. Bahaha.
Because a lot of those fans though he was worthless and claimed a team would only take him as an expiring deal...For a championship squad to want him for more than that, well that goes against their claim  I can't see this working out for houston unless a third team is involved.
Celtics didn't have the right expendable, ie expiring contracts to get it done anyway. Jermaine O'Neal's contract is for 2 years and likely included to match Battier's $7M contract.
Shane deserves to go to a championship team. He deserves it for just being as classy as he seems to be. I actually want the guy traded so he can get a ring.
I can't imagine any assets Boston has to offer to entice us to take on $6.2 million in salary for a player that will never see the floor.
Yes, I think he deserves it. I also think the Rockets would be crazy to "give him away." He's worth more than a bag of peanuts and a donut.

He does deserve it and if he wants to go, we should let him go. But he has repeatedly said he wants to be in Houston.
I agree with this take, I would like to see Shane get a shot on a great team like the Celtics. What if the pick was for 3 or 4 years in the future, when the Celtics will be much different than they are now? That pick could be seriously high in the draft, as Pierce, Allen, Garnett will all be done by then......and them drafting so low over the last 7 years or so. That might work, get a future pick in like 2014 or 15? DD
