so do what then? Just let him walk this offseason? why not get something for him?? get off the love thing houston. It's about the future, and Shane sure has hell aint the future for us.
Disagree, because I like having him around long term and that becomes easier to do with his rights. I want to resign Battier regardless of what role the Rockets take. For that reason, I'm not giving him away for nothing. And that is basically nothing.
....I can't imagine Boston giving us anything we really need. Battier is at very least worth his contract - why would be taking inferior talent just to give up Battier? The only way this makes sense is if there is some kind of 3rd team involved. Avery Bradley is not worth that much and I have a feeling the only other guy Boston would dangle is maybe Big Baby who I think is too limited for our team. If we could get Perkins in some larger deal, I could see us going for that, but I don't think the Cs are going to give up Perk.
This! What is the use of all these silly trades if the Rockets would not be able to address its most glaring need? A solid center is the most critical need for the Rockets right now and that is where Morey should focus all his efforts and significant assets/resources.
So, basically, they want Lee but don't want to give up ANYTHING for him. Way to bring the chips to the poker table, Paxson.
A few Boston board members are willing to give up Big Baby, Erden, O'neal, basically anyone from the bench for Battier. I still like Battier better then anyone on their bench but it has nothing to do with his skill set but more to do with him being with the Rockets for so long.
I didn't say anything about not wanting to trade him because I love the guy and I didn't mention anything about just letting him walk in the offseason. What I said is that we can do better than a late 1st round pick for a player like Shane. Thus, look around for a deal that nets us something better than a late 1st round pick in a weak draft class for a player of Shane's caliber.
Maybe as part of the Denver Trade we do Battier to Boston Boston Pick + Hill + 2012 Knicks Pick to Denver Nene to Houston The money doesn't seem to make out right. Boston is over the cap with Battier so something else must be there. We also would most likely have to make a move for a SF because Bud and TWill probably aren't going to be starters at least this season. Lowry/ Brooks / Ish Martin / Lee Twill / Bud Scola / PPat Nene / Hayes / Miller
I don't agree with you on re-signing Battier. But you could still do that even after trading him away.
send him somewhere like San Antonio or Chicago. Does Boston really have anybody available that we want?
Pretty sure its just Simmons wishful thinking of Jermaine for Battier. There's no one on the Celtics that I want that's attainable.
I want to keep Battier . If we trade him (and I think we will), I want us to bring him back next season. We should also get back some REAL value. Two first-round picks!
Damn I would actually miss Shane if he were to be traded. Such a classy guy. He would have to take his karoke talents to Boston .
The Bulls want their cake and eat it too. They want Courtney Lee, who has proven to be a starter in this league, but they don't want to give up anything of value.
If he went anywhere I would like to see him go to OKC and help that young team out. Boston are a buncha douchebags.
Where did this guy Mannix get this idea that Houston is motivated to move Battier. I seriously doubt that the Rockets are in this state of mind. Try another rumor from out of the blue Mr. Mannix.
Lock thread? @ChrisMannixSI: Houston-Boston deal involving Shane Battier not happening, says source close to situation
