Like Perkins and Big Baby, Shaq would never be included in a Battier trade. As noted above, Shaq makes no sense for the Rockets anyway. The Celtics need every player they have who helps them win the title THIS YEAR. The only guys they'll move are players who won't be in the playoff rotation. They're not revamping the team; they're tweaking it due to Marquis Daniels injury. They will avoid shuffling major parts. That means in a deal for a back up small forward, they won't move Perkins, KG, Pierce, Allen, Rondo, Shaq, Big Baby, and probably not Delonte West. They would move for salary matching or other reasons: Jermaine O'Neal, Bradley, maybe Erden (maybe not), Nate Robinson, Daniels, Harangody, Wafer, and draft picks.
Honestly, whatever Battier wants he deserves... Personally, I think if Adelman is truly on his way out it spells the demolition and reconstruction of this team. If that is so, having a guy like Battier on board either as some sort of coach (whether it be assistant or head) or as a captain figure wouldn't hurt to reel in and train the new guys. Personally, I hope the guy retires a Rocket, but I would not look down on him if he went somewhere to win a ring, I would just rather group him up with KB24 and RonRon over the Celts... All in all, if he leaves I won't be surprised, but I will be saddened nonetheless...
http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2011/02/cavaliers_feature.html The Cavs have been working the phones, but are not interested in a quick fix -- not that there's even one available. Rather, they hope to acquire help and build for the future. Yes, there have been calls about Antawn Jamison, Anthony Parker and Ramon Sessions, among others. But the Cavs are seeking either unprotected No. 1 draft choices or size, like Chicago's Omer Asik or Boston's Semih Erden, and teams are reluctant to give up either.
Just a little addition to that: In a very short stint at the end of the game last night in Golden State, Bradley looked completely different on offense. He stuck his lone mid range jumper, and for the first time ever drove aggressively to the rim and finished strong. He forced a turnover in his lone defensive opportunity, and scored five points in his two minutes of play. It's not much time to go on, but it sure appeared that his experience in the D-league helped him get his timing and confidence. It's impossible to tell if Bradley will be a great, good, or non player. But he sure has some interesting physical skills.
Maybe Nate Robinson was one the players Boston offered for Battier, because there is a report he was being shopped. Nate, Bradley and Erden would be enough salary to get within 25% of Battier's salary. This would require us to move Brooks in another deal, no doubt: http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/25168/knicks-celtics-talked-trade-for-brewer Sources: Knicks, Celts talked Brewer trade By Chad Ford Despite acquiring Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks apparently aren't resting on their laurels. One of the reasons the call to complete the Anthony deal has been held up all afternoon is New York continues to look at more trade possibilities. Sources say that the Knicks were looking to bring a fourth team into the deal in order to unload Corey Brewer. Several teams were interested, including the Celtics, but New York couldn't work things out. One source said that Celtics GM Danny Ainge was actually trying to recruit a fifth team to take Nate Robinson and a Boston first-round pick to complete the deal for Brewer. However, by the end of the afternoon, the Knicks decided to pull the trigger on the deal with Brewer going to New York. .
