Hard to believe, but that was 5 years ago. I'd think that cost is sunk by now.

Looking at their roster, I don't see how a trade works. We either have to take Jermaine O'Neal (another year left, no thanks) or Big Baby and Nate Robinson. As entertaining as pairing Robinson with Brooks seeing a pair of 6 foot on a good day shooting guards pretend to be point guards might be, I just don't see a deal there.

    Aim for the opposite coast...
Battier, Jefferies, Miller for Bynum, Artest

I agree, there is no deal with the Celtics possible ... unless there is a 3rd or 4th team involved in the deal.

This sounds good, but how does TWill go from behind the bench to starting over Bud? And I'd put Hayes backing up scola. But that's my opinion. Like the trade if we must give up Shane.

Wasn't there a rumor a couple of weeks ago that Perkins was unhappy in Boston and refused to sign an extension? If he expires soon, there is incentive to trade him. But on the other hand for them, shane would be a "win now" trade and trading Perkins away would go against that strategy.

One of my fantasies: Battier for the Spurs and Hayes for the Celtics

If we were to get Shaq, won't Shaq be pissed? Im sure he wants to win another ring and if traded to Houston, how would Shaq react?

Here's one way it could happen, but only if Boston has a pre-arranged "wink wink" deal in place with Jermaine O'Neal for a buyout:

    Boston receives:
    Battier
    Luther Head (from Sacramento)

    Boston trades:
    Avery Bradley (to Houston)
    Semih Erden (to Houston)
    Jermaine O'Neal (to Sacramento)
$3 million (to Sacramento, to use for the "wink wink" buyout)
Draft pick (to Sacramento, for using their cap space to do this deal)

    Houston trades:
    Battier (to Boston)

    Houston receives:
    Avery Bradley (from Boston)
    Semih Erden (from Boston)

    Sacramento trades:
    Luther Head (to Boston)

    Sacramento receives:
    Jermaine O'Neal
    $3 million
    Draft pick

Houston gets under the luxury tax with this deal, plus two assets. Houston waives Jeffries to make room for the two incoming players. Jermaine resigns with Boston in 30 days for the minimum, or goes to NY or Miami. Jeffries signs with NY for the minimum.

Great guy and decent center, but too much of injury prone player!

Exactly. We've got 4.5 years out of Battier, as the most consistent player on the team over that entire period. Looking back at that draft, that's really good value. I'd like to keep him, but I would expect Battier to be looking around this offseason anyway. He's probably got 3 more years as a starter-quality player, and 5-6 left in the league. He's got to be thinking about playing for a contender. I'd much rather get a pick and/or Big Baby from Boston than see him go to San Antonio or Orlando in the offseason with nothing to show for it.

I like this trade, I've always liked Avery Bradley, I see some potential in this kid. Something that people aren't considering is that Avery Bradley could make Courtney Lee available to trade for a center. Avery Bradley and Courtney Lee have very similar games, only that Bradley is much younger and a little more raw, plus I think Bradley is better at attacking the basket.

Bradley, with his speed and leap, should be great at attacking the basket, but so far he's been inept on offense. In his short minutes he mostly takes and misses mid range jumpers.

He did go down to the D league and supposedly improved there offensively. He hasn't really played with the big club since he returned.

But, and I can't stress this enough, he has the potential to be the best small man defender in the game. He's very gifted defensively. I believe Rondo (the current best point defender) said Avery was ahead of him on defense at the same age.

Yeah. What would be the point? We land a C at the end of his career for that 8th seed playoff push?
