I don't think the Magic's would sit Turkoglu for Battier at SF. http://www.82games.com/1011/1011ORL2.HTM And they'd likely only offer Redick. Hell NO... Spurs...Jefferson spent all summer learning the Spurs system and signing a smaller contract to ease the pressure of having to produce at a $15M/year clip. Tell you what...I'm surrounded by Spurs fans where I work. Should I suggest this and let you know? Mavs paid big money for Peja and are still looking at Tayshuan. They already have the Matrix. Battier might start a few games. Till they see that he's bad in transition O. Then, Battier expires and Caron Butler returns to take his SF spot back. You're a smart person...what would the Mavs offer that would get a deal done? DeShawn Stevenson and Brian Cardinal? Lakers...another maybe. Until Artest comes back to reality. But all they'd offer is Luke Walton. Again, on the off chance Battier could start somewhere else, the offers would be underwhelming.
I agree and I said as much -- teams that are contending aren't usually stocked with valuable assets. Morey talked about thinking long-term. Go for the Boston 2014 unprotected 1st rounder. Would not be worth much to them now, could be worth a lot to us as we (hopefully) near the end of our rebuilding phase in a few years. Battier is most likely walking at the end of the year as is.
They should trade Battier. Battier is the best asset you have. Expiring, experience, intangibles to help team win, plays defense, team player, good money for his expiring contract. He is not our future. Face it Battier was part of the Yao and Tmac plan and that plan is over. Its time for a new plan.
Shane Battier is a Boston Celtic and it appears that they only had to give up Jermaine O’Neal’s expiring corpse http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...end-shane-battier-to-boston-celtics-done-deal
Lock this garbage <a href="http://www.gifbin.com/984219"><img src="http://www.gifbin.com/bin/052010/1274779903_glen-big-baby-davis-tongue.gif" alt="funny gifs" /></a>
That link says first rounders from another team too, if that is the case I could see that happening...
This would be a reward to Shane for being a company guy, and a low first round pick seems to be about right. It also frees up minutes for the youngsters.
Also with Melo and Billups going to NYK, I think this trade will happen right near the deadline. Hopefully Morey can bleed all he can from them, but the Celtics think long term too in that the Knicks with Melo are a serious threat now. NOW we all know that Shane really can't guard Melo but meh, may fool them. Any ways switching it up with Pierce and Battier giving Melo different looks may work. Sorta like what Shane-Artest did to Lebron.
Some first rounders sound about right. As many of them as possible sounds good to me. I think in fact he should trade alot of veterans for as many 1st round picks and youngsters as possible so we can start this rebuilding process real quick and make it very short. Shed some cash for 2012 free agency and start all over.
Please don't overrate Battier. Pierce is a future HOF. A 1st round pick on top of that is absolutely unrealistic. The Celtics are interested in Shane, but don't want to give up anyone of real significance for him.
At the end of the day whatever we get for aging vetrans is going to be better than nothing. If we are truly going to rebuild then having Shane here is not going to do us any good. Especially if he is going to walk next year or we don't sign him. Why not get any type of asset we can and at the same time give him a chance for a ring. I get attached like everyone else but at the end of the day we have to take the homer glasses off and realize we need to change it up.
Don't want to see Shane traded But if he would be traded... Only to Boston They need him, he deserves a ring.
