Ainge's legacy will be missing out on Kawhi, AD, and Harden while hoarding draft picks like they're BTC.

I don't know where this constant d**k riding of Brad Stevens coaching ability comes from, but with that said, it was clear since the end of last season that the team had stopped paying attention to what he was saying.

Sometimes you are in a place too long and the impact of your words wears off. If you cannot get buy-in from the stars of the team (Tatum, Brown and Smart - leaving off Walker because he is hurt too much), then you have no chance of success. X's and O's are overrated in the NBA. Instead, the key measure of a good HC in today's league is relationship management. An HC must be able to communicate a vision to his players and get buy in from all involved, especially the stars. This is the same skillset that is desired in today's corporate world. Top down management is out the window and organizations that continue to follow that model are increasingly failing because they cannot attract and keep talent.

I mean does anyone really believe that Steve Nash is a great HC, but Gregg Popovich isn't (from a purely X's and O's perspective)? Of course not! What happened to Pop is that, beginning with Kahwi Leonard, the better players stopped listening to him. Publicly, the team tried to convince Kawhi to stay, but lets not kid ourselves; Pop probably wanted him gone rather than change the way he does things. Same thing with the Heat. Riley would rather lose his way than win doing something else. The Heat run last year was a fluke and won't be repeated with the same cast of characters.

I am not saying that Brad Stevens has the mentality of Riley (i.e., Spoelstra) or Pop, but just that for all of them, the players began to tune them out.

Finally, I think it should questioned as to what sort of experience or expertise Brad Stevens has in evaluating talent. Why not call Massai Ujiri, Sam Presti, or Sam Henkie? Perhaps even Joe Dumars or Larry Bird? All of those guys have either won titles or gotten teams to the finals; Brad Stevens has not.

I honestly am enjoying this. The Celtics are in turmoil.

Danny Ainge questioning James Harden as a Player and Creating a False Narrative and trying to Lower James Harden Trade Value.

Bill Simmons hating on James Harden for years. James Harden is Selfish Narrative is Pure Trash Thinking by Bill Simmons.

And Now James Harden just Destroyed Them with his High IQ and his Passing. Easy Scoring.

It is now Giannis turn to suffer with his 2 Fake MVPs.

James Harden is going to make everyone pay.

    Genius move by Brad Stevens.

Gets himself into a position where he can trade assets...only to trade himself to the Nets. GENIUS.

    https://www.theringer.com/nba/2021/6/2/22465384/brad-stevens-danny-ainge-boston-celtics

There have been rumblings for months that Danny Ainge would leave the Celtics. League sources say he was eyeing jobs in Utah, where many members of his family live, or Portland, his home state and another franchise that could undergo change if the Trail Blazers lose in the first or second round.

Brad Stevens has been in the rumor mill, too. Months ago, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Indiana University offered Stevens a seven-year, $70 million contract to become their next head coach. Stevens denied the report, but league sources have consistently confirmed that Indiana did indeed drop the bag and he declined, instead choosing to stay in the NBA. What was unknown at the time was that he would become a leading candidate to take Ainge’s role.

Before hiring Stevens, league sources say Celtics ownership considered other internal candidates and even pondered pursuing Sam Presti, a Massachusetts native who has run the Thunder since they were still the Sonics.

There are a lot of takeaways here:

    1. Ainge should have given it one last shot and traded for Harden, even if it meant giving up Jaylen Brown, if he was already one foot out the door. If you love the organization, why wouldn't you pair Tatum up with Harden and see how far that team would have gotten?

    2. Stevens should have just taken the Indiana job because it would have 1. given him some time away from the NBA just to get a break 2. give him a program that he can take far in the NCAA tourney 3. give him the pick of the litter whenever a good NBA coaching job opens up again. I'm saying all of this because...

    3. Boston owners must think Stevens is a genius to give him the keys to the franchise on the FO level. To not pursue Ujiri or Presti and to trust the team building aspect to Stevens is questionable at best and possibly disastrous at worst. I don't question Brad's knowledge on players and talent evaluation but there's been many coaches who assumed FO duties ending up giving out ridiculous contracts to free agents and/or getting fleeced on trades.

Very interesting that D’Antoni isn’t even listed.

Dude could turn Tatum into an MVP. No joke.

McHale will never coach in the NBA again after his Trump fandom came to the surface and his wife's twitter posts. While I personally believe that people have a right to their political opinions, today's NBA player's will not play for him, especially not the good ones.

Fair or not, its the reality of today's NBA.
