Cell Phones in Houston not working?

    Still in Houston, and I have Sprint. It's hard for me to make outgoing calls to ppl...at least I can still get on CF for now.

    half my calls from T-mobile gives the message "circuits are busy"

    All cell phones are having problems. If you try calling a bunch of times you might get lucky and get through. But for the most part they are going up and down big time right now.

    Yeah, I'm in Austin but have had trouble reaching my parents in Houston since we both have T-Mobile. I haven't had a problem calling people with Sprint though.

    I'm realizing that when the hurricane hits and afterward even the landlines are likely to be overloaded with people calling Mom to say they're fine but they have no power, etc. I was expecting to be able to use at least a charged cell phone for communication but now I'm thinking I'll feel rather isolated.

    I've been on and off with Sprint all day long. Trying to call people on T-Mobile isn't working well either.

    When I moved to NYC, I kept my Houston cell phone #. Until today. No one could reach me. They kept getting "circuits are busy."

    Being pretty far from the hurricane's path, it was tough to blame it on Rita.

    I just changed my number. What a pain.

    It may not help everybody, but text messages seem to be working fine on most carriers today.

    I've just made 2 phone calls on Sprint. Seems to be working ok now at least for me on Sprint.
