Tom Penders is great. My last year in college was Penders first year in Houston. UH came to town and we heckled Penders pretty hard. A "Penders Has a Bald Spot" chant went for several minutes. He turned back and winked at my section, and even came and talked to us when he came back from halftime. He's a heck of a guy. UH should be proud to have him.

Billy Joe, Trey Cool, Mike Dirnt from Green Day Lint (Tim Armstrong) from Operation Ivy, Downfall and Rancid Matt Freeman from the same as above Not really celebrities but I love them, Neil Curran (I still think the accent is to get the girls.), Dave (I hope you had a good time with my girlfriend), Seth (Only smiled when the Pasadena's police were present.) , Graham Mills and Brent Schumacher from the Dead End Cruisers and now three of them in The Score. Jim Bob and Fruitbat from Carter USM (They are pretty big in the UK but here in the US only a few showed up to see them at The Abyss.) And quite a few other punk bands. I'm not sure if any of the ones mentioned are consider celebrities but they are to me. Kenny Rogers and Wynona Rider.

I met the village idiot of Darragh once. We went around and threw apples at tall people and people dressed in orange.
Matt Maloney and his entourage n a bar a few years back. I walked into the bathroom and saw him, and I thought "OK, this guy is either Jason Priestley or Matt Maloney." His entourage explained that it was all politics why he was out of the league.
I think we've done this before, but okay. Ones I've seen on the streets of NYC and said hi to: There are too many to mention. The ones I remember are Iggy Pop, Ric Ocasek, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins and Robin Williams. Ones I've waited on once: Justine Bateman. Her ass crack was showing and we could all see it from the kitchen window. It was the most exciting thing that had happened all year. Ones I've waited on a lot of times: B.D. Wong, Steven Berkoff, Al Goldstein, Frank Langella Ones I walked right up to a movie trailer, knocked on the door and talked to: Roger Daltrey Ones I drank with late into the night and talked **** with in NYC bars: Mostly just Grant Show (Jake on Melrose Place). There were others but this was the only really juicy conversation. Ones I drank with (only) in Houston: Griffin Dunne, Suzan-Lori Parks Ones I partied all night with in Houston: David Berman, David Cross Ones I booked: Medeski, Martin and Wood in their first ever Houston show (they spent the night at the club and I did too since I lived there), UK Subs (also spent the night), Bad Brains (only talked on the phone; quit the club the day they played) Ones I chatted with in my short but official foray into presidential politics: Jerry Brown, Jesse Jackson, Jack Germond, Ray Flynn, Molly Ivins (also interviewed for book review in Houston Press), Don Novello (aka Guido Sarducci), Noam Chomsky Ones that were basically okay guys in local politics that I gave a lot of maybe undeserved **** to: Garnett Coleman, Chris Bell Ones that were totally okay guys in local politics that I gave no **** to: George Greanias (shoulda been mayor) Ones that I met and hung out with before they were in local politics: Bill White Ones I met and talked with for about an hour at the Scottie Pippen press conference: Gene Peterson Ones I met and talked with for like a second at the Scottie Pippen press conference: Every Rocket on the roster Other Rockets I've talked to over the years: Sam Cassell, Mario Elie, Chuck Nevitt That's all I've got for now.
Oh, forgot the ones I know kind of well. Chandra Wilson (Grey's Anatomy): We went to high school together. I played her dad in a play senior year. Renee O'Connor: We went to high school together too, though I didn't hang out with her a lot. She was Xena's sidekick on that Xena show. Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory, Judging Amy, Garden State, Quizno's commercials): I directed him in about ten plays in the 90's. Also he's one of my best friends. And also he was the wolf boy in the Quizno's commercials, the guy in the full suit of armor that said "it says balls on your forehead" in Garden State and a regular on the last season of Judging Amy. His new sitcom premieres Monday nights this fall. Watch it.
Vicente Fernandez. (Mexican Celebrity) He had a concert in a cockfighting arena in a Mexican town during a carnival. My dad knew somebody who took us backstage where we met him and his son who has 2 fingers missing after being held for ransom.
Singer Leon Haywood (Dr. Dre uses the beat from one of his songs in Nuthin But a G Thang)... he's a distant cousin and stops by my grandma's house quite a bit. Besides that, a bunch of local rappers and met Bill Walton at the All Star thing last year.
