Fresh Face, new motto and all that crap. ..Granted he is a Stats type of guy, which i endorse, but i certianly would have liked us to get a more experience candidate. Bob Whittsit would have been a good choice. i guess we'll see what this guy will bring real soon...
They should have gotten Steve Patterson back. He basically built our championship team. It flourished once he left but he's the one that pretty much put it together.
You're talking about the Myers-Briggs personality test, right? It's also used quite a bit in the business world, too. McGrady's score implies he's introverted, sensing, thinking, and perceiving. When I took the test, I scored INFP, so I'm close to being a superstar myself. See the basics of the test here .
Well, it's official These aren’t your fathers Rockets anymore... I hope Les strikes gold with this guy... I really liked CD, but change is good too..
I can't get myself to read the whole thread. I wish it was JVG being replaced. Is it possible that the new GM was brought in in the contemplation of geting rid of the Jeff Van Glum? First I think Dawson wanted to leave, so that is good. I also think it is fine if we get a new GM if he will stand up to JVG, who allegedly called the personnel shots and has not produced as a GM/ coach. We needadditional input into decisions concerning the franchise. Having JVG do everything is not working. We should also have JVG get some actual experienced head coaches, who have substantive NBA experience. Why is JVG so insecure (or is it close minded?) that he seemingly cannot tolerate having ex-head coaeches or vey experiended NBA giys as assistants like so many other coachces do? I don't know anything about the Celtics GM, but I certainly know that the Celts have been a disaster in terms of rebuilding from the Bird/McHale/Parrish era. They have been significantly worse than the Rockets have been in rebuilding from the Hakeem era. Hopefully he is not responsible for thieir lack of success in rebuilding.
I like this move as far as player evaluation goes. Don't know if his method will work or not ... but sounds interesting. And with the little resources we currently have to get good role players, anything that may reduce the bust factor is welcome. What really concerns me about bringing in a rookie gm is not his player evaluation, but his people skills. Is he a good negotiater? Can he get the most from trades? Is he good at selling the rox to potential free agents? eh, only time will tell. I didn't think cd was the greatest gm, but I had few question marks about him.
Les has finally zapped all the personality out of this organization. this guy may be able to find diamonds in the rough, but can he build teams. there are two aspects to building the team, talent and chemistry.
I hope he doesn't get too business side I mean. . . He could surmise that getting to the 2nd round only ince every 4 yrs is good enough to keep fan interest without the necessary expense of an GET OVER THE HUMP type players "See Yao alone accounts for 78% of revenue so we don't really need a second star player . . . a good player for low cost would get us to the 2nd rounds so . . just making it to the second round will meet our finanicial goals while keeping cost down! If we can maintain this level we will be just fine" - MY DEEPEST FEAR OF what STAT GUY will be like Rocket River
So was it that hard/expensive to get someone with some experience? I don't know of too many companies hiring guys with no experience to fill key positions.
numbers don't work as well in basketball as they do in baseball. in basketball players take away from each others potential stats, in baseball they add to each others stats.
