Don't worry, as a JVG hater I'm probably in the minority around here. Anyway, this board would get pretty boring fast if there were no disagreements.

NO i didnt. I said they gave tmac a max deal because of his analysis.

Turns out tmac turned into a star and saved them from sinking when G Hill coulndt ever play.

Clutch, wherever you are, don't make this a sticky. Put it up as a platinum thread that exists forever more. Before we get some sleep, research and realize Les is our only tangible link to our heritage and that cutting-edge science is usually proven highly deficient within 5 years. I'll find that stat tomorrow.

I took a course on this in Grad school. It has been very helpful over the years, although I must admit that I recall many underlying princilples but my use of typing has became much less overt (it's been years since I looked at someone and said...'oh, an ISTP')

It is useful during interviews to type folks, you look for clues in speech for instance. E.g., did they say 'I think/feel/believe', the word used is a clue to the type. All the types have potential strengths and weaknesses, so once typed you can quickly assess whether they are soaring or sinking based on the proclivities of the type.

If this guy actually supported the Celtics' decision to give Scalabrine that ridiculous contract because of some personality test, I'd be worried.

That was Dr. Niednagal, the "brain doctor". Not Daryl Morey.

Correct. There isnt just one clue that makes you say oh he's this or he's that. JN uses speech the way a guy walks, so on and so on, there are many things.

Pretty good post Cohen. Im glad you could chime in.

    LOL!!!!!!!!!!

First of all its no personality test. Second of all, Ainge saw his type and did this, Dr JN didnt give BS anything. JN wasnt even working for Ainge at that time.

    Lets get things right ok.

LOL. Getting the "We are family" speech from a guy that's been posting for 1 day. That's funny. At least you're bringing substance.

    Welcome to the board everybody.

I was referring to Daryl Morey. I'm not exactly sure what his position was with the Celtics, but if he was OK with Scalabrine's contract simply due to his personality profile, I don't think it speaks well for his judgement. Hopefully he had nothing to do with it.

If you're interested in sabermetrics, maybe you'd find apbrmetrics interesting.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APBRmetrics

    Similar ideas, applied to basketball.

If we're going with a stat freak as GM, why can't we hire Tango instead of this MIT guy? ;)
