Nice to see that Rudy will be back doing some scouting (something we apparently need). He is a good judge of talent and is still valuable to this team.
I can not believe he said this. I was soo much expecting CD to play it off and act like they werent really intrested in LB or Silas and say something like they werent the right fit. The way it came out it made me think they missed out on LB because they wanted to give Silas a fair shot. I think thats why he said it doesnt matter who becomes open, he's not letting the other top 2 (or bottom 2, how ever you see it) canidates get away. Actually I still havent even read Clutch's post. I was too depressed over losing my #1 LB and my #2 Silas. Maybe tomorrow I can bare to read it. If it doesnt jive its not my fault, I typed more or less what CD said. But then again, do you really think CD is going to come out and tell the whole truth about the matter. I am suprised he even let on that he was upset in the slightest. For those that didnt hear it, the tone of his voice gave it away the most. He sounded more upbeat last week when he was dead tired and "needed rest" from the first interviews.
What does this mean? This is the most rediculous thing I have ever heard. What does he mean by "dead tired and needing rest?" He interviewed 4 people! Its not like he was out doing manual labor.
what i mean is exactly what CD said last week. If you read my other post on the CD on 610 interview last week you will clearly see. When asked if the Rockets would have their coach in 7 to 10 days CD said we dont have a top draft pick, we are in no hurry. The thing he was looking forward to the most was rest after the long interview process. I cant find if i typed about the resting part but maybe someone that heard that interview can vouge for me. Today he admits, their is urgency. Urgency in my opinion that should have been there last week. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=58256 last week... 610-Would you be suprised if you didnt have your man within a week or 10 days? CD-We do not have a top draft pick. We are trying to get the right guy, that has been the goal from the start. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> key words in clutchs article... You will never hear the Rockets state publically that they pursued Brown or extended an offer to him. Whichever coach they do get, he will be their "first choice" as far as you and I are supposed to know. But make no mistake, Brown was the "first choice". Brown had an offer from the Rockets - they just couldn't or wouldn't beat out the Pistons offer.
Who do you think the players prefer? All I hear from Gundy is how his players were fiercely loyal to him. All I hear about Dunleavy is how there was all of this player dissention and players were complaining all the time. Sure Portland or Milwaukee might have had some hotheads but the Knicks had Sprewell and Pat Ewing. This is out of the air, but I get the feeling the players would rather have Gundy.
"It would be hard to stop our process, because more people become free.It would be hard to lose ground because more people become free." Assuming Ole CD is stringing them along about it being down to those four, this could possibly be interpreted to mean someone else that will be available becomes the Rockets new head coach. He's going to play whatever hand they are playing...and I don't think it's really about JVG and the Chicken man.I subscribe to the smokescreen theory.(Besides,it makes me feel better)
If LB is THE one we want, why not go after him? Risk losing 3 other choices? So what! Sounds like Rockets want the last remaining of the 4 because "we felt we would lose the others if we went after ..."
We know via Clutch all the behind the scenes events w/ Brown and that an offer was indeed made. Why does Dawson need to time after time vomit out all this bullshht disinformation?? This nutless mutt is like the reincarnation of that pathological liar dude from SNL. What's wrong w/ just saying "no comment" instead of making up all these lies after lies w/ more lies to cover up the previous lies and make the future lies seem more plausible? Every offseason its the same garbage from this guy.
This sounds good to me. I'll go with this theory. It's a mystery candidate who's going to blow our socks off. Absolutely. We will be stunned. Hardwood nailed it. (did I mention that we'll be stunned??) (hell, I'm in a stunned condition anyway... may as well have a good reason for it... at the moment it beats reality, which may be that we're screwed.)
Yikes. The last time I was "stunned" by the Rockets, we unvailed our new uniforms. This is not a good omen...
After reading the transcript - assuming he's not poker facing - CD needs to be the next to go. Don't want to muddy up the water by interviewing 1 more (COY)? Don't want to rush and sign the best coach on the market (Brown)?
I'm starting to think the Rockets have decided they don't want to spend a lot of money on a coach and that they feel any of the 4 choices would have made a decent enough coach (that would be their assessment and not mine). Therefore, they are content to sit back and watch as these coaches sign with other teams. The end result will be the Rockets hiring whoever is left at a discounted price since they can treat whoever the last man standing is as their 3rd or 4th choice. Just a thought.
My guess is that we gonna hire VG and do it after Aug 1st so we don't have to give Knicks any compensation.
What do you expect CD to say? "Hi ya'll. Well we sure did screw the pooch on Larry Brown, hunh? Anyway, Les told me to try to go cheap on our coach, 'cause we're paying Rudy basically to go away and add another salary to that....who-whee! Dang, I tell ya..." Instead, it's: "Well, we're in no hurry. We don't have a top draft pick." "But CD, the new coach might want to tweak the roster, and having a coach in place long before the draft..." "This isn't a process we need to hurry..." "CD, at this rate, maybe you should call Alvin Gentry, 'cause that's who you'll wind up with."
