Gater and Today, you're RIGHT on re. Colson. He does have some offensive quickness and penetrating ability, but lacks the decision making instincts of a PG....when to involve others, when to shoot, when to back things out and "set up." He is one dimensional and truly a Moochie wannabe. Keeping him would only limit roster spots for other emerging players such as Langhi and Morris, or vets such as Bull.

Feel he'll be used like Pig to fill in if injuries occur that keep any of our three top guards out for any length of time.

I just had a thought as to why Rockets Mgmt would be publically supportive of Colson:

We are in a dog fight to keep Moochie around without having to pay him 3+ mil per. By hyping up Colson and pretending as if he could hold the backup PG slot, this in theory drives down our need for the Mooch, thus weakening Fegan's bargaining power. This may not be a huge bargaining chip, but I'm sure that Rockets Mgmt is using this in their favor.

I agree with OP's assessment. Granted, I don't have an inside track like he does, but I go with my instincts, and they're usually not too far off. I realize that none of you guys trust them, but I do. (I did say about 5 weeks ago that Hakeem probably wanted to leave, but no one listened)

Mooch wants to stay. Fegan wants to overcharge for his services, but if it comes down to it, he will tell Fegan to take a leap and OK Houston's offer. He genuinely wants to remain a Rocket.

Shandon is redundant now. We're willing to keep him (for his D, really), but we'll pull the trigger on any trade that sacrifices him to get a big man. He will NOT be overpaid, at least not here. We'll try to get him overpaid if he's S/T, though - that loyalty thing.
