hahaha could you imagine Yao and Deke at dinner together. Yao "wha tuh?!" Deke "cwah tuh?!" Yao "what?" Deke "what you say?!" Yao "what?" LOL J
Dikembe: "Hey Ming! Watch out for that ceiling fan!" Ming: "Oh yeah! Thanks, pee wee. Hey - where's Colin?" Dikembe: "You gotta look down, dude." Ming: "Oh yeah." -- droxford
One more thing to add to the CD conversation (it encompassed A LOT guys! That is why we have to get an audio link somehow!) He praised JVG repeatedly and said something I was surprised by: He said JVG on defense is sooo good that he has no/few peers in the league in that aspect (meaning he is by far the best defensive coach in the league) I was really surprised by that strong statement, but it pleased me a bit, because he and JVG have been getting ripped by the fans earlier in the season, and I was the first one to defend them AND the T-Mac/SF trade when we were still losing (I started a thread back in the day for this very reason, to insert some positivity in an otherwise negative BBS at the time). So in this sense, I am relieved that JVG/CD and our players are getting their due right now. I wish I can remember some of the other stuff, but my mind is going blank right now since I heard the interview in the morning (it was slightly over an hour of intense Rockets talk) and I can't remember everything said. BTW, Richard Justice of the Chronicle was on as well earlier on and he stayed throughout the CD interview, he threw in his contribution to the conversation a few times here and there) --Tiger
...so basically he brought up the Astros a half dozen times (give or take) - off topic, I used to defend Justice, but then I read his little "parody" of why baseball is better than football - how can the only paper in a football town, make a baseball writer its sports editor !?!?!
At the end of dinner, they fought over who would get to pick up the tab. Yao asked the waitress, "Can I write check?"
Actually, while they did share a similar camaradarie, the "ISO" squad expressed it mostly through partying, "clubbin", going out to buy cars together and so on. This group "hang out at eachother's houses". And considering that T-mac supposedly doesn't like to party and Yao's a video game shut in and the rest of the team is compiled of elders, I really don't think it's the same.
where did you read that at? nice to hear that he wont be spending too many nights out on the town before games.
Man, I wish someone would post a link to an audio file of the conversation. I would love to listen to it. 610! GET OUT OF THE STONE AGE and freakin stream your station! I can no longer get 610am in College Station, either a new station conflicting with the aplitude, or 610's signal got weaker.
In that article where TMac and SF compared living in their new surroundings, TM said he likes to spend most of his times inside his house. Thanks to the guys for the (real) update on the CD chat. Wish I would have heard it though because 1 hour is alot of info.
Thanks again to those who have related the news to us out of towners. It's HIGHLY appreciated. Uprising, I moved to San Diego from College Staion a year ago and the drop-off in available broadcasts, etcf is virtually zero (pathetic, considering distances). So you're telling me 610 no longer can be heard duiring the day? Yeah, night time was always no go.
Yep, I can no longer get it in my truck during the day time either. I was never able to get it in my house, and night time was usually a no go...but now the day time too. Sucks.
Last Friday (atleast I think it was), a few hours after their win in Indiana, several players were seen at Belvederes. Supposedly T-Mac, Barry, Wesley, and Sura.
It wasn't a joke. CD really said that Spanoulis talks to their scout all the time and Spanoulis tells him he has, in his words, 'big confidence' after making some big shots lately over seas. And hell I know it sounds funny for CD to compare Badiane to Garnett, but he did. He didn't say he had the talent of Garnett or the potential but the size and length of Garnett.
Yah, when asked about whether or not he thinks the Rockets will move Mo by trade deadline (I believe that was the question anyways), CD replied by saying that his phone is working and they always try to improve the team, etc., but nothing specific about MoT. Then CD went on to talk about how this year it is slow traffic before the trade deadline in comparison to the past. I guess we should not put any hope on trading MoT this year or anytime soon
