No, the point is that JVG doesn't know what he has or fails to see how pieces can fit in unless he is FORCED to by his bosses. DD
Tyrone Lue is much much better at the Hawks. Last ten game of the season he had maybe 8 out of 10 double doubles. You can't say that Lue sucks. As for James, you put him as pt guard at the Raptors and he's lights out. On the Timberwolves, dude can't get any minutes and they make him play like a robot. Yeah his pts went down and they would stay down at the Rockets too. Azuibuke is a stud for Golden State but would never have gotten playing time at the Rockets cause he's a rookie. Francis still got game but is sandbagging at NY cause he wants out. His points went way up when he left the Rockets to play for Orlando. Swift, better system, more points at Grizzlies. Bonzi - OMG this guy was the Spurs killer for Sacremento. He would have been key in the playoffs if JVG could have gotten along with the dude. Mobley - Stud for Clippers. Oh yeah pt production up from Rockets days too.
You actually hurt DD's case a ton more than helped it. Nachbar is a legit example, but don't be surprised if NJ chases an upgrade at his position pretty hard. His inability to rebound or D up in the halfcourt is getting exploited pretty badly in the Cavs series. He's getting his PT ecause they have no other option. Been nice seeing him rack up high scores though. Lue is a scrub. He's scoring in Atlanta because they're just that bad. I don't think anyone's ruing the day we lost him. Mobley and Francis gave us McGrady, and I dare you to put up a poll seeing if anyone here wants to take that back. Francis' career has gone straight down the toilet. Cat's hardly been enjoying better seasons since he was traded. Mike James worked over a bad team in a contract year, Toronto slammed the door on resigning him, and he's been awful in Minnesota. Swift gave us what he gave Memphis every year prior, and this year he's giving even less. Really bad example. Bonzi showed up fat and out of shape. Bonzi remained fat and out of shape. Blaming JVG because Wells wasn't able to perform has been of the most asinine fads of the past 8 months. Azubuike? Are you serious? Look when Don Nelson quits playing a guy because his defense is so bad, you've got serious problems. It's true JVG doesn't have the patience or inclination to bring young guys along. You either come in ready to do what he wants or you make room for someone who can. Luther did what he asked. JL3 even got his endorsement. V-Span came into each game and couldn't finish. Bonzi was a turnover machine that couldn't find the basket. Snyder was dumb enough to give him attitude. Larry Brown would have been a thousand times worse in this regard. The flipside is being ignored - look at how the rotation guys swear by him. How many guys have said he's the best coach they ever played for? It's not an unforgivable flaw for coaches to be tough and demanding on their guys. Anyone here who's played HS football can attest to that. Beats having a coddler coach who can't get the team on task. Evan
What's laughable is an throwing away these players accomplishments on other teams against the best players in the NBA. Tyronne Lue is a premiere pt guard for the Hawks. Definately not a scrub as he is generating these numbers against the best defenses and teams in the NBA. "It's no surprise then the Hawks re-signed Tyronn Lue, their second-leading scorer and top assist man last season and it'd be even less of a surprise if he ends up playing the lion's share of minutes at point guard. It won't deem Johnson useless, but it could hamper the development of Atlanta's young prodigies, who will have to divvy up an even smaller number of minutes available on the wing." So if you can generate scoring, rebounding and assists on another team againt the best the NBA can offer then obviously you are not a scrub. The most important statistic is playing time. Something these players were not able to get with the Rockets. Laughable? Hardly. Francis and Mobley? Well aside from the trade, how much better are the Rockets today from back then? 2 whole games wow!
James is really good in an uptempo system. You put James with Don Nelson and the dude will rack up 20pts a game.
The only player on that list you can say might be a wash is Stromile Swift. Athletic but dumb yes. So I can live with Stromile Swift being classified as laughable. He's athletic but low basketball IQ. But he's the only one of the bunch. Why not look at Van Gundy Favorites over the years? Ryan Bowen - Waived Wesley - Scrub Those two guys can't even make it on another team yet Van Gundy played them major minutes. Why??!!???
BWHAHAHAHAAHAHAHhahahaha. Numbers? If Tyronn Lue and his "numbers" (11 pts, 3 assists, 34% 3 point percentage is a "premiere" point guard I guess that makes Rafer and his 13 pts, 4 assists, and 37% into a hall of famer. One half season of Jon Barry >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tyronn LUe
Yea the absolute only way it wouldn't be wasted was a championship the way JVG played, and we did not have enough to actually make it so that we could win the championship...... no penetrator, no consistent 3 point shooter.... ugh so disappointing.
Lets see now, Tyronne Lue. You give him 48 minutes and his scoring is at 20.5 pts a game. Not bad considering that this is better than Arroyo and just below Jameer Nelson. As I said, the most important statistic is playing time and if Lue gets playing time, he scorches the nets.
LOL, yeah he sure does - to the tune of being 109th in the league after ZaZa Pachulia and Hedo Turkoglu . You do realize his anemic 41% FG shooting overall is lower than Luther Head's 3 point % right? to reiterate - you're arguing that Tyronn Lue is the hot young stud that Van Gundy "ran off" the team. BWAHAHHHAHAHAHHA Sorry I just had to say it agian to laugh.
Wesley played his role, he got Yao out of foul trouble. Bowen was 6-9 and could guard some two-guards. He only started games due to injuries, in his last year he was the last man standing.
I'm just hoping BEXCELANT is either: a.) Related to Tyronn Lue. b.) Lost a bet (likely on the gender of Tyronn Lue) that demanded he must defend Tyronn Lue's honor at all costs. Of, course, there's also this gem: As opposed to the 12 minutes (total) he played in the first round against Dallas, 0 minutes against Utah, or the 6 DNP-CDs and and 11 games with fewer than 3 minutes played over the last month of the regular season (out of 15 games).
We'll know pretty soon (this summer). Sura's contract is one of the best assets we have right now -- if it ends up helping us land a player, we made the right move.
Man... the Rockets and Van Gundy have made some mistakes as to personnell... but "not keeping Ty Lue" should not be on anyone's list... The Rockets played better without him... the Hawks haven't been any better with him. He's just your typical undersized chucking PG.
