LOL! I actually have not been feeling too well of late. I probably went a little overboard, and I apologize to Jeff for getting too upset. But if you post something as asinine as what Bullrider posted, then you deserve to get blasted. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unbelievable...unfreakingbelievable that a "long-time lurker" would think something like that.
Manny -- To be fair, I probably came across in that post as if I was giving Jeff ALL the credit. There were A LOT of people who worked very hard to make sure that the Rockets stayed in Houston, especially Clutch himself who devoted countless hours to designing the website and strategizing with Jeff (you should have seen the long-distance bills we racked up during those months). That said, the goal of my post was to campaign for Jeff, not for anyone else -- and I think most people understand that a little hyperbole comes with the territory. Bullrider just stikes me as someone with an ax to grind.
Well, of course. What do we care whether the Rockets play in downtown Houston or Louisville, KY? I think there's a better argument than that. Seriously, does anyone think it would boost Doc Rocket's or oeilpere's reputation on this BBS one iota to win this contest? You can't get higher than Mt. Everest, folks. Same with Clutch. As NBA fan websites go, CC.net is Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, and Wilt Chamberlain rolled into one. Everyone here knows that, and I suspect he knows that everyone knows it (how can they not?). Voting him "best poster" to show respect would be like giving a penny to Bill Gates. To some extent, the same argument applies to the rest of the Crew. To me, the purpose of this contest is to raise a virtual toast to the contributors with no affiliations, and no inside info -- those who just show up and post insightfully. (If that tips off how I plan to vote in the final, well, so be it!) Just FYI ... it's never too early to start bribing.
And Det. The dry humour displayed in this post gets my vote, with the obvious disclaimer that Jeff is like the greatest poster ever or something . Rocketman95 in the other matchup, although he should never have gotten that far .
Holy crap...man, am I really humbled that I made it this far. Rimmy, I've wanted to vote for you every round, but the matchups were always bad. You truly are one of my favorite posters. I vote for RM95 and Jeff...just because I'd love to see how giddyup votes in the next round.
You don't know the meaning of the word humbled you insecure b*stard. Just you wait til the bball get together.
Speaking of which, I'm good to go the weekend of March 30-31. Will that work for everyone? RM95, start a thread to organize something, ok?
If this doesn't prove how overrated I am, I don't know what will. tpl should have bested me, he is a wonderchild. Manny should have beaten me because he beat a better (despite his burn marks ) poster in heypartner. BGM I thought for sure would beat me because it just seemed like he should have. I will continue to abstain from voting until next round when I can vote for Jeff.
