I just checked the weather. It's supposed to be sunny Friday and Saturday, high in the 60s, low in the upper 30s. So we can either try Spotts park or go back to Rice. Ron413 or Grega, do you have any problem with trying out Spotts park, or do you just want to stay at Rice again?

Did you guys not introduce yourselves when you got there? That's odd.

I can't make it this week because I'll be traveling, but count me in for future games. I live very close to Spotts park and I know exactly where the Jones courts are at Rice (walked past them every day to class for 3 years).

    Trader_Jorge,

What do you think of Spotts park? Is it crowded on Saturday mornings? Do they have leagues out there? Is it a definate upgrade over the Rice court?

TJ - we were kind of playing already when guys started getting there so it wasn't that easy. They only guy I actually "met" was Rockets Red Glare, that's because we got there early and were waiting for another game to end.

To be honest, I've never seen a basketball court there (Spotts). That doesn't mean much though, I haven't exactly scoured the area looking for one. I'm assuming that you guys are correct and that there is actually a court there. Spotts is very crowded on Saturdays, but it seems to be more of the jogging/picnicking/walking dog crowd as opposed to basketball players. I do know that a lot of people live in the Heights and it is convenient for them. I also know that none of you will be able to handle the pain that I bring.

There is a big ass park in nw houston called Meyer Park. I am going to see if they have basketball courts there. I know they have like 5 soccer fields or so. It's off Cypress-Wood.

That was a lot of fun, but I think I'm in more pain than HeyPartner. My legs were still sore today. I'll get back in training and try to come to a game next year in shape.

Due to the rain today, I think we should try the covered courts at Spotts park.

Who is up for playing at Spotts park at 11:00 am this Saturday?

    Spotts Park

    KAM,

Ive played there before, although its been a year or so. From what I remember, there is only one court and it is a very nice court and lighted.

However, I always remember it being packed.

Heypartner told me about that, and I think he said something about the plans to get rid of the courts were either blocked, or they have been on hold. From what Heypartner told me, the courts are still there.

I drive in that area often and I never pay attention to that park. 11:00 sounds good to me. By the way, is that park open all day/night or does it close/lights turn off like other parks?

If you drive by today or Friday, do you think you could take a look at the court and give us a quick report on it? Only if it's not out of your way or anything.

Clockwork, that is a city park along the bayou. it doesn't "close." It is rather large. It has a big pavilion bball court. If you can, park in the YWCA on Waugh (headed to the Heights), and walk down the hill to check out if the Pavillion gets flooded and if the nets suck.

To B and Heypartner, I didn't get to drive by today b/c I was busy, so the earliest will be some time tomorrow unless someone beats me to it. Sorry I couldn't do it today.

So since it doesn't "close" does that mean that the lights stay on all night? I play late at night sometimes but the court I hit up ends around 10:30 b/c the lights go out. Another one I hit up, a cop comes and kicks everyone out to close the gate.
