....just got back from ballin' at the Downtown YMCA. I was drilling 3's from all over the court. I consider myself an excellent "indoor" player, and I fear that some of my pure shooting ability will be lost on the outdoor courts at Rice. I will try to make it tomorrow, but no guarantees. 1:00pm is pretty early for me and I may still be nursing a hangover at that time. I really wish we could move the game indoors, but I'll bring my handles and 'bows to the pavement if need be.
Can I please hear all the trash talking from whoever beats whoever? I want to see as many of these ****** as possible tomorrow.
UH has some nice outdoor courts on Wheeler at Cullen. Totally new courts with new adjustable goals and breakaway rims, I shoot on them almost every day.
Here are the directions from earlier in the thread: I hope to see a big crowd tomorrow! Next week we should try U of H. B
By enterence 16, there is a church or something where you can park. That is what somebody told me. I want to play badly. I might do hot the first two or three minutes. After that, I bet it's all down hill.
We were able to get three games in and had all clutchcity only games. I'm happy to report there were no broken bones that I am aware of. B
There were no broken bones...... Just broken egos. I played three times, and I lost all three times. Someone gets the blame. I am blaming my partner. He lost all three games for us. He kept passing me the damn ball to shoot it. He was feeling it, yet he passed it up.
I just thought I'd add I wasn't on Kam's team any of the games. I had the best player on my team each game so I had a bit of an unfair advantage. B
I was on Kam's team all three games & had a great time. I think that there was a little bit of intentional fouling going on against me! As well as a few lucky three pointers going in for my opponents.
There was no little bit about it. It was all intentional. I'm too old and beat up to give away easy shots under the basket, but I'll let you shoot those jumpers all day. B
For those unfortunate out-of-towners, out-of-staters, and out-of-countriers (no such word), how about a lazy basketball version? Meaning video games . Just not the same, but anyone want to have an online tourney?
And for that game you were the best player out there. You scored 14 of the 15 points if I recall correctly. B
Not really talking about anyone in particular, but........I think you did made like 5 out of 8, great shooting by the way. Maybe you shoot that good all the time, I would not know. I just know you shot great in that one & I did not shoot as well as you. Maybe I can get it going better next time.
Come to think of it. I went 0-4. I lost at 21 to RRG. I want to know why barely anybody showed up. Only five people showed up. What is up with that? If you look earlier in the thread, 300 people were going to show up. We could of ran five on five full court. It was a damn gorgeous day, and nobody came out, except for five folks. I only grabbed the rim this time. Next time, I will dunk on somebody. Bring your C Game people. I brought my C game.
I think we need to arrange for someone with some size to come out next time so my skinny @$$ won't have to guard RRG. Think Griffin trying to guard Malone, and you can imagine what it was like trying to fight my man down low in the post. And just like Malone, RRG had a killer jumper you had to respect. Very nice game for the big man. While I'm at it, let's run down the scouting reports for the other three that were there. B - man is a mad-hustler. Haven't seen someone dive for a loose ball outdoors in forever. He didn't even need Bill Walton to yell "get on the floor" or anything to dive after that ball. Risking his own well being to keep possession of the ball, shades of Dennis Rodman. Except my man kept killing Kam and RRG with his spot up J off a drive and dish. I might go as far as saying B stands for Bill Laimbeer. And he had his Yao retro jersey, major props for that. RRG - see above. Took us from the inside, took us from the outside. We were at his mercy the entire game. I give him props for not blowing his temper while we were hacking him (or worse) on every shot attempt, it seemed. Kam - Guys got quicks!! I always felt like I was too short and light to hang with RRG and too slow of foot to stay with Kam. And he's got an explosive leap. He was a terror on the offensive boards, couldn't jump with him at all. Even served as a shot blocking presence throwing some shots out of bounds. Scary to think he promises to throw it down next time on someone. Ron - didn't see him play, but seems he has a shot from what I read above. Which is saying something considering we were playing on double rims. A jump shooter's worst nightmare. Not to mention the good old outdoor backboard which is a horror to shoot off of. Anyhow, hope to see more people out next time.
sorry I didn't make it out there guys, no babysitter, hopefully next time. I'll box out Kam and shutdown RRG.
