    Bottom of the article.

""An ad that uses sports to divide rather than to unite has no place in the biggest national sports event of the year — an event designed to bring Americans together," said Jehmu Greene, president of the media center."

If they would have come up with that ad for the first super bowl everyone would have just yawned. :)

Well, since the first Super Bowl happened 16 years before Roe v. Wade, I doubt there would even BE an ad.

Of course, at the time of Super Bowl 1, interracial marriage was illegal, so that time is no great measuring stick of the moral superiority of the United States. Fortunately, we've advanced quite a bit from those days.

The Constitution says to qualify someone must be "natural born" this has been interpreted to mean as being born on US territory. If it was just parentage the Birthers would have even less of a leg to stand on since Obama's mother was a US citizen and even born in Kenya he would still be entitled to US citizenship.

True football players at big division I schools lead somewhat rarefied lives but its not like they have no interaction with the average student body or that many of them aren't very down to earth people.

Is the Tebow ad sexually explicit? That was the reasoning for not allowing the vegetarian ad.

John Mcain was not born on US territory, but I don't think people were saying he couldn't be president.

I was homeschooled and my wife went to Public High School and she is much more socially isolated than I am.

And a lot of home schooled kids are also down to earth. Yes Tim Tebow is a huge football star but he was at a big university and has travelled widely so its not as though he hasn't had the chance to be exposed to all sorts of different people.

Kerry's flip-flopping reputation came out of a campaign season not a career of evolving thought, I believe.

Who cares about "originally?" The particular accusation stemmed from a 2004 commercial not something in the late 90s. This is 2010. Further, an issue is not a PAC.

But you only challenge the integrity of your political opponents?

why are you arguing with me. neither one of us really know the guy, he has lived a very unique life with a very religous background and a time as a super star at a very young age.

that's the only point i'm making, he may be self righteous but his background has contributed to that.

It explains a lot about why I'm ****ed in the head, but I was able to overcome many of the social setbacks pretty easily.

I know what its like to grow up in a Christian fundamentalist home that tries to shelter you from the world at any cost.

So when someone changes their mind to something you agree with, it's "progress". But when it's something you're against, it's flip-flopping. Got it. ;)

Well, I just wanted to make sure we knew the background of the group. I mean, if CBS really should give air time to everyone, regardless of their political/religious message, then the issue shouldn't really matter, right? Look, I'm not saying CBS was wrong to tell moveon.org "no". Quite the opposite: I've already said I would like to see networks stay neutral. CBS is a hypocrite for telling giving right-wing, conservative issues airtime while shunning opposing viewpoints.

Show me the major network that has shunned conservative ads while airing liberal ones, and I'll gladly call them hypocrites, too.

If it doesn't air, I'll be pro-choice. It it does, I'll be anti-abortion.

That is not what I said. I said that the accusations of Kerry flip-flopping were not "progress" because: 1) the back and forths were not just forths and 2) they took place in the relatively short timeline and framework of a presidential campaign.

I can't stop you from ignoring what I said but I can stop you from changing it.

I think CBS has a right to address their audience as they see fit. I would guess that there are more applicants for air time than there are time slots. Should they go to a lottery or something?

I was really referring to the posters here not to the networks.... You chastized SM for being "hypocritical" and then praised him for coming clean on his inconsistency.

How is it hypocritical to make decisions based on rather than against your value system?

    hy⋅poc⋅ri⋅sy
      1. a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess.
    2. a pretense of having some desirable or publicly approved attitude.

Are you saying that both SM and CBS voiced approval to things that violated their beliefs or principles? Seems like they violated yours (and others here) and for that they are condemned as hypocrites.
