You mean before his 2 college football championships, Heisman Trophy, and numerous Heisman finalist appearances while headlining ESPN for years and becoming a hero to Florida (even my grandmother who is over 90 and lives in Gainesville and doesn't like football loves Tim Tebow)?

    Sure, maybe.

No surprise; you and your buddy are two of the biggest hot-heads in this place. Somehow you think a lack of control gives you privilege and prerogative to disrespect people. Life doesn't work that way.

you have no idea how hilarious this sounds when you spend all your energy defending rush flippin' limbaugh.

that is his m.o. you've lost any shred of credibility you've managed to grasp onto with this statement. what a joke.

So in your world is it a sin to have a change of heart or mind? Have you never changed your mind about anything? I doubt that is what is going on here but your staunch stance on "progress" is kind of neandertal. Notice that progress is in quotes?

Again, notice the quotes. I acknowledge that some won't consider it progress-- thus the quotation marks. How about change.

What issue is MoveOn devoted to?

I sure hope you are throwing that hypocrite label around in every which direction.... or are you just saving it for the conservatives?

As Juan Williams is to Fox News, I am to the D&D....

yeah, being a football star is an isolated life. do you know how these guys live on campus, they live in their own world. how many everyday people do you think tebow meets.

edit: your grandmother may know him, he doesn't know her

I barely got out of breath defending Limbaugh. Plenty of energy yet for other important matters. I never lost my cool in spite of the many, childish insults.

I would assume he was born to US citizens so that would make him eligible.

last time I checked, RUsh has nothing to do with this subject.

take it back to another thread please, quit crapping on this one...some folks here *might* want to actually discuss the subject.

    You are right.

I had never heard of that provision.

Assuming his parents are US citizens of course.

Being an *******? Probably. Just like you being a hypocritical, insidious wuss is probable. But I suppose I can agree that, generally speaking, you are a polite hypocritical, insidious wuss.

Was that the one that was overtly risque with all the sexual connotations?

Seems there would be a bit of a difference.

I doubt anybody would publicly oppose eating vegetables, but again a case of PETA doing everything wrong.

Here is your answer. Policy change at CBS:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100126/ap_on_sp_ot/us_cbs_tebow_ad

I put the bold part in the BS translator and it told me that it really says they changed the policy because they were losing out on money from advocacy groups.

Feminists controlling advertising during the Super Bowl.

... surely there's some irony in there somewhere.

^^ Ugh, will people grow the eff up already?

Who cares if something is divisive? Just because something is divisive doesn't mean it shouldn't be on TV. The only reason it shouldn't be on TV is if CBS doesn't want to associate with that message, etc.

Maybe we suck as a country because we haven't learned to tell the difference between right and wrong because of all of this baby talk and rabbit handling.

Let people say what they want (including CBS's right to NOT say whatever they want), and let the court of public opinion handle it from there.

    who are you talking to?

regardless, the only problem i have with it is the inconsistency. i suspect that cbs knows that the uproar would be a lot louder if they pulled this ad than it was for the others in question, so they conveniently cited a change in policy. but the b****ing here is court of public opinion to which you are referring.

How was it overtly risque? I saw the ad...it was no different than, say, women in bikinis slobbering over hamburgers in Carl's Jr. ads. Or Victoria's Secret ads selling...wait, what are the point of those?

Same concept, just espousing a different viewpoint.

If I remember correctly, John Kerry was lambasted by the right as a "flip-flopper" for his progress (there, see? I removed the quotes ;) ). One person's progress is another person's flip-flop/hypocrisy. At least StupidMoniker had the cajones to come back to the thread and admit that his statements were conflicting and not attempt to rationalize his way out of it. He owned up to it and admitted that he was being biased in his statements. That was a classy move.

Well, originally they were devoted to ending the witch hunt with Ken Starr/Bill Clinton and "moving on" with the business of government, which angered the right-wingers to no end, I'm sure. Since then, they have been advocates of many issues, most of which would be classified as "liberal" within the American political landscape. Thus, when CBS wants to endorse an anti-abortion ad (a notorious conservative hot-button issue) while at the same time refusing to give airtime to a PAC that represents largely liberal points of view or a church that supports gay rights (another liberal issue), you can bet I'm going to call it what it is: corporate hypocrisy.

Not at all: hypocrisy in every direction bothers me. It just seems that the prevailing wind of BS lately comes from the right.
You're half right: you are very reminiscent of Faux News.
