I don't doubt they have a bias, it is a group of people making the decision. Maybe the disconnect (and the reason I "glossed over" their bias) is that I don't really care that they have a bias. They are business execs, not some sort of impartial mediators. Their bias happens to coincide with mine on this issue. I am sure they have others that run counter to mine. In the end it is their network to do with what they will. If I was running a network, you can bet my bias would influence decisions like this.

To clarify: yes they are biased, but that is okay because they have a right to be biased, regardless of how their bias coincides with or contradicts mine, be it in the past, present, or future.
I think the right thing for them to do is air the pro-life ad, because I am pro-life. I think the right policy is to leave it up to the company what ads to air, because I don't want government control of private media outlets.

He said one thing during Super Bowl 39, he's saying the exact opposite for Super Bowl 44. If you want to call that "progress", be my guest. But in my book, that's hypocrisy.

Something tells me if he was taking a stance against your viewpoint, you wouldn't be so quick to call it "progress".

Of course he does: because he was disallowed for the previous Super Bowl. A network disallowing one issue group while heartily endorsing another, all while maintaining their stance that they are unbiased is...what's the word? Oh yeah: HYPOCRISY.

This is the one thing I agree with: of course we'll all criticize from our experience and our viewpoint. But, again, your hypocrisy is showing: show me the threads/posts where you give the GOP/right-wing a stern talking to regarding their actions/deeds.

All true statements. And we, as a nation, have a right to b**** and moan that such bias in unbecoming of an entity with a prominent role in a broad spectrum of communication, all made possible via publically owned (in theory  ) airwaves. More to the point, bias is acceptable (and expected) during programs that specifically are intended to provoke thought or debate. A commercial does neither, and accordingly crosses the line from "bias" to "propaganda". Is any of this illegal? Of course not. Is it ethically dubious? Certainly.

I don't think nachos stir the same emotions as the abortion issue.

But then again, nachos are delicious.

It's sad to me that some people actually think the morality behind abortion is a partisan issue. Very sad.

Yes, I know, a lot of conservatives are religious and religious folks tend to be anti-abortion. It's all very sad to me that some people need help to find their moral grounding (whether it be from religion, politics, etc.); that they can't think for themselves.

As far as the TV advertisement, I could care less. I'm pro-abortion to a point (if it doesn't look like a human, you can abort it), but if there's an anti-abortion advertisement, I could really care less. It's not going to change my view. It's not going to make me change the channel. It's not going to affect me in any way, shape or form. Go for it.

That being said, Tim Tebow is really self-righteous.

I'm squarely in the pull this ad right now corner. I don't care about the message... it's not going to change the opinion of people who vote regularly. I just don't want to look at Tebow.

I find it amazing that any network would even contemplate taking Tebow off the air after the 4 year love fest we've just experienced. I've had to look at his mug every Football Saturday for years... I don't want to see him at the Super Bowl and think it would be great for CBS pull the plug on this one.

That said, if the commercial gets stopped, he probably becomes an extra-special super hero to the wingnut crowd and we have to watch him cough up wingnut talking points on FOX for the next 20 years and make a 2036 run predicated on recapturing the Tea Party legacy... I just have a strange feeling that he's not going to go away. Ugh.
