What? No....I was considering Yao Ming, now all that is out the window, got to move with the times, and they changed drastically yesterday.

I see your point, and I would love to be a 55 win team, sure if we can get Iggy, go for it.....but you would have to keep AB, Martin and Scola in the process.....

    Absolutely.

I believe in the Pistons model. Assemble borderline allstars at every position and go to war. I think AM, KM and LS fit that mold. And before someone says that model only worked once! Well my retort is how many times was it tried?

We have Patterson, Hill, Lowry, Budinger, Lee, Hayes, Battier, Williams and some money to spend in the offseason to get those two caliber players at C and SF. Can we get it done? I think we can.

I think IGGY is great, but Phily is very close to that 8th spot in the playoffs, they will not trade IGGY, not right now.....

And we need a decent C man, we have no interior presence, that is why we needed Gortat.

I am very much in agreement with you on this one. The Rockets need a solid center and Gortat would have been a very good one but not at the expense of a great scorer in Martin's level which the Rockets would not be able to replace for a very long period of time. I would rather have the last name than the first name of Martin.

Do you seriously believe Les is going to let Adelman and Morey tank the season? How often have we done that since he bought the Rockets?

I would be fine with that too, it has worked more than once, btw, the Sonics did it in the 70s, I believe.

No, they won't but they should.....and it is not tanking it is playing the young guys and living with the results, so that you are BETTER next year.

They had been to the conference finals for years........we have been to the 2nd round....once....in 15 years.

But ok, that is fine by me too....whatever......we don't have a choice anyway.

I'm not sure what that means, we aren't that team, we have no center. We are a defensive stopper away from being that team.

They're both freshmen. With the CBA ending & the potential owners lock out of the players, why would any underclassman declare for the 2011 draft and risk not being able to play constructive competitive basketball for anywhere from 8 to 19 months? The only players i see as being available for the 2011 draft (if there is one) are college seniors. Can anyone here even name a college senior, let alone one that is worth a #1 draft pick? This is not the year to try to move up into the #1 to 5 position.

Really, you think if we got a defensive guy like Camby at the rim we would be in the mix?

If that is the case, then go get Thabeet, or Camby, Portland is probably ready to blow it up.

I don't think any owner has ever told his team to intentionally lose -- at least not that I'm aware of. Tanking has this negative connotation that we want our team to purposely lose games.. that's not what it is.

We want Jordan Hill to play more minutes than Chuck Hayes. Hayes will probably have a bigger impact on the outcome of games this year, but we'd prefer Jordan Hill to get the minutes necessary to develop and get better. Jordan Hill is a part of our future (..trade proposals?), Chuck Hayes is not. It's more beneficial for us in the long run if Hill plays over Chuck Hayes, in my opinion.

We want Battier's role to be reduced. He's a veteran.. a glue guy. He was exactly what we needed when we had McGrady and Yao and a cast of role players. Now we have one of the youngest teams in the NBA.. his use to us isn't as great as it once was. TWill, Lee and Budinger should be able to get the time necessary to develop, make mistakes and learn from them on the court.

Playing guys like Battier and Hayes over our young guys helps us win a few more games this year, but it doesn't help the team in the long run, IMO. No coach or GM would ever tell their team to intentionally lose.. but if you go through 'growing pains' by playing the young guys (the future of your team) more, then so be it. It makes the young guys better because of the experience they gained and it nets us a higher draft pick to use in a trade or to draft an impact player with. Win-win in my book.*

*knowing that we have no realistic chance at competing for a championship.

I guess I just don't get it, either. We don't always agree, but we agree here. The only recognizable thing in the GARM right now is the sight of people freaking out at the news of Yao's injury. I've lost count of how often that has happened.

Yeah, why would people be upset that their only defensive presence at the rim, and all star center just went down AGAIN?

    I mean...gosh.....no big deal.

Camby's too old for my taste, I was thinking more along the lines of Dalembert. I think he would be perfect for us.

You really think he would make the Rockets a contender?

Yeah, it is a big deal. People react in different ways to news like this. You are reacting in one way, which doesn't surprise me at all, and I'm reacting in another. If you think I'm not upset about this, you're nuts, but while it's terrible news, Yao going down or simply being a shell of what he once was has been a possiblity since before the season even started. I find it hard to believe that Morey, Alexander, and Adelman haven't been assuming that that possibility had a real chance of coming true. Hell, Morey has been trying to trade for a post-Yao presence since the end of last season, including those two dudes you don't like, Bosh and Anthony. It didn't work out. I doubt that Morey has stopped his efforts in that regard. In the meantime, I'd like to see what Adelman can do with the guys we have. I haven't given up on the season.

Gortat was my guy for the Rox, now i'll hitch my wagon to Varejao. Guy can rebound, defend and looks to be blocking more shots this season.

Varejao's contract isn't great but for a guy who can give you what he can, i'll be cool with it. Tonight's line vs Amar'e is impressive...

    14 points, 17 board, 4 blocks, 2 dimes and 2 steals

Rox get 10/10/2 on a regular basis from my center and i'd be ecstatic.

Who are you giving up for him? A Cavs beat writer asked his "tweeps" if they would trade Andy for Kevin Martin.. that's how they view him and/or Martin.
