How can Durant be in this list? He even doesn't play nba yet!

    44. Kevin Durant, Seattle: The Sonics are probably going to experiment and play him at shooting guard some, but for the purposes of these rankings, I decided to place Durant at his natural position. He won't be immune from typical rookie obstacles, but it would be shocking if he isn't Seattle's leading scorer.

    I considered health and age.

Dwight is becoming a dominant force inthe paint as well and has a great potential to become better than Yao. He's much stronger, Yao is only better cuz he's longer.

Melo is not matured yet attitude-wise, but I favor his basketball skills over tmac. One day he'll be hungry to win.

I actually think that the list is pretty fair. The bottom 25 of this list is always really difficult to put together, but the first 25 are pretty accurate IMO.

The only thing is that, Kidd is overrated a bit, and Arenas is underrated.

the point of the rankings is who is the better player projecting into next season.

yao IS better than dwight and also has the potential to be even better. as much as howard is improving he has nowhere close to what yao has in the low block. it's silly to even compare.

yao's better because he's longer? you're taking points off because he has a physical advantage? that's r****ded. if he's better he's better.

What I meant was Yao is more effective in the post because he's longer. Yao is a great shooter but I don't need that in a 4 or 5. I'd rather have a Shaq-type of play in acenter.

No he isn't. Anyone that has watched Dwight knows he isn't even good enough to be a go-to player at this point. His offensive skills are in their infancy stages - I'm talking Kelvin Cato infancy. The gap between he and Yao isn't even close. Dwight is one of the most overrated players in the league mainly because analysts see what he has been able to do based on sheer athleticism and raw physicality and think they can add 8 points to that within 3 years with the assumption that his footwork and postgame will develop. It doesn't for everyone and it doesn't look like it will that greatly for Dwight. He's a physical specimen, the best rebounder in the league, and a scary presence inside, but he is nowhere near Yao's league and won't be until age slows Yao down.

Sorry but Carmelo Anthony isn't better than Tracy McGrady. That's ludicrous. Maybe a better scorer at this point but he isn't half the all-around playmaking threat that T-Mac is.

The rank is about right except Jason Kidd, Kidd is too high. This is ranking the current players, not for the players in the whole life. Kidd is great for his whole life, not for right now. This guy is confused by himself.

On the playmaking, that is becuse he is asked to do it. Melo has great passing skills too.

Dwight Howard said this past season that he'd like to be as good as Yao. He knows who's the better player.

Dwight is a number 1 pick. Cato is picked from whereever.

I'd rather listen to professinal analyts about what they say on Dwight rather than to a vegetarian rocket fan.

thats fine if you want to take his "potential" over yaos, but as of real talent and ability to help a team win. yao is better today, when you ignore the P word. Yao is better because he is more skilled in almost every aspect of the game (shooting, passing, etc)

tmac is a better scorer and passer and playmaker.

I dont see how can Dwight Howard's offensive skill can be "dominant" in the paint... I rather put more hope on Oden to fulfill the American pride.

yeah cause all yao does is shoot. have you even watched basketball in the last 2 years? yao is a better LOW POST scorer AND shooter then dwight howard. yeah what yao ming does is just so un-center like.

you're basically saying you'd rather your center have hops and be on sportcenter, then be an efficient scorer who wins ball games?

What the heck? Dwight Howard hasn't even had a winning season yet.

Again, the man himself said he'd like to be as good as Yao. He knows that Yao's better. Should I trust the YOH armchair fan, or should I trust Dwight Howard? Toughie.

he wins games and he rebounds, yes you're correct.

if rebounding where the only criteria to determine who the better player was, then certainly howard would win and i guess we'd all have to redefine who the best pf/c in the history of the game are.

yao hasn't gotten that playoff series win yet but certainly if he was in the east he'd have more than a couple. can't say the same for howard whose team wouldn't make the playoffs out west.
