It means it when you've only been out in once in the last 17 years

Isn't this just standard sports journalism?

Spurs turning over their roster when they were floundering? Popovich is a genius who constantly reinvent himself. Rockets turning over their roster when they were floundering? Morey Doesn't value continuity and chemistry.

Spurs keeping their big 3 of Duncan, Manu, and Parker who have won multiple championships together? Obviously that just implies the Rockets should've kept their big 3 of Scola, KMart, and Lowry together. Because Duncan won championships not because he's one of the best players in NBA history, it's because he was on one team his whole career. Give Scola another 5 years and he'd also be championship caliber. /Sports journalist logic

Well, ignoring the fact that we've made it past the 1st round twice in the past 17 years, I like it when people use arbitrary cutoff lines that don't mean anything. The Rockets also won 2 championships in the last 21 years. They've been past the 1st round 7 times in the past 22 years. See how I can arbitrarily use a different set of dates and come to an entirely different conclusion? The beauty of making up stats that suits us.

You sound delusional, look it was impressive what we did last season, it impressed morey enough that he didn't lose a main piece of his core and resigned all of his free agents minus Smoove (which he'll regret real quick). He didn't feel the need to trade away a key piece to upgrade. Now when an opportunity like Lawson presents itself you HAVE to take it. All I am saying is, those other teams in the past weren't good enough to make it out the first round, why keep that crappy core.

For me it's a couple of things. #1 health throughout the season and playoffs
#2 the emergence of one Clint Capela.

The successful integration of Ty Lawson is critical, more so than Capela's development.

The key to our season is being able to punish any team that tries to play small ball against us by having the ability to go small or have D12, Dmo, or Tjones punish them in the post.

Another way of writing the title title is "Rockets can finally focus on chemistry, continuity now that they are good enough to contend for a title."

I'm personally not worried about Ty fitting in. To me, he seems to make too much sense not to. I'm more worried about his "health," which falls coachbadlee's health portion of his post. Capela's development could end up being a major key to this coming season. If his play makes a jump forward and he becomes a regular member of the 8 man rotation, yeah, that will be huge, in my opinion. Guys like Donatas have already made that developmental leap. He just needs to keep doing what he was doing before his injury late in the year and stay healthy.

Capela, a second-year player, is being asked to step up and be the backup center on a team with championship aspirations. Pretty risky given that Howard has had injury issues in recent years.

Since Hayes didn't pan out, I think Morey will try another minor move to bolster the 5 spot at some point.
