Qyntel Woods is the truth and is Tracy McGrady in waiting. He is ultra quick at 6'9" and is solid as a rock, shoots 3's and midrange (lost art) jumpers with ease. I would take Qyntel and Chris Marcus and use Marcus as trade bait for a Western Conference team (Phoenix) and trade MoTaylor and Marcus and a draft pick for Shawn Marion. Hey, they trade Jason Kidd for Stephan Marbury.

Just for comparison, I was looking at KT's college stats and Gooden's. Gooden is a slightly better scorer and rebounder than KT was. KT's was a much better passer, shotblocker and shot at a higher percentage. I know Gooden played in a much harder conference but does he really add that much more to the team than what we already have?

Your wright Gooden falls under Finesse but he is still young. Because so many players are coming out early your going to see less front court players coming out that are physically ready to play in the NBA.

I would take a player that already knows how to play and has room to grow over a player who has already filled out but doesnt have much of a understanding for the game. In other words I think its easier to put muscle on a player than it is to teach a player how to play in the NBA.

I think once Gooden fills out he'll be more than just a finesse player he'll be the best big man to come out of this draft.

If this is so then why the questions about him playing hard and his defense and why didn't his JUCO team advance to the national tournament.

Seems like Woods' team wasn't very good.

Besides, EVERY prospect in this draft is questionable defensively, some more so than others, not atypical of young players.

I mean, what's the difference between drafting Woods and Stoudamire?

Not my fault; I just did an average; the mock drafts are the ones who ranked him so high.

I agree with your point about KT, however one of the things that Taylor provides the Rockets is bulk upfront and a good shooting touch that extends defenses and provides spacing for our guards. He shouldn't lose his job due to injury or because of KT's play this year(which was good, but not worthy of dethroning Mo'). Whether anyone wants to accept it or not, Taylor's loss this past season really hurt the Rockets even though KT stepped up his play. I don't want to trade KT because I think he is a valuable piece of the puzzle here in Houston, but he does have good value for his salary so there are going to be teams that are interested and Rockets management needs to hear them out.

If a player is good enough to be picked at the top of the draft he should be able to carry a JUCO team to the national tournament or his team really really sucked bad!

I wouldnt mind drafting either one of them with #15. :p Hell he may turn out to be the next Tracy Mac but I'll wait to hear about his workouts before I believe that. Kedrick Brown was the JUCO player last year that was going to make some noise in the NBA and look at what he has done.....nothing....so far. Theres just too many mixed reports on this kid to believe all the T Mac hype yet.

I would have thought that too , however, apparently, among lottery team he is ranked lower than 3 or 4 and a couple of teams have said they would take him #1

I have seen several posts in this thread that say Gooden is a finesse player, yet I have seen no evidence to support this.

Gooden plays close to the basket, and rebounds like crazy. Gooden gets almost all of his points in the paint. I guess Shaq is a finesse player too?

People will call me crazy, but Gooden reminds me alot of Tim Duncan when he was @ Wake Forest. Albeit he wasn't as dominant as TD, but he played with the same intensity and did all the little things that the Jayhawks needed done.

With a frontcourt of Gooden, Griffin, and whoever we put at center (hopefully not Cato), that would be one hell of a frontline.

Gooden would be a great addition to this team, and allow the Rockets to go big upfront. I think the Rockets could very well make this pick if they are close to acquiring a veteran SF.
