Besides that.....why trade for Blake when I would bet money Isaiah Canaan is better than Blake...right now!

i personally think rockets are not trading lin this season. they're going to give him another year (or at least to the trade deadline next season). how quickly we forget that there is a need for an additional facilitator besides harden on this team. wasn't there a mini-controversy just before the playoffs when some folks were complaining that harden was getting sticky with the ball? you can't have both harden the scorer and harden the facilitator.
how quickly we forget that jeremy lin led the team in assists which translated to points for chandler, asik, delfino, garcia, etc..
people that just key in on a three point shooter next to harden as an ideal match neglect the importance of a playmaker for this team. just because harden is a great passer doesn't mean he can be both "the" scorer and "the" pg.
better to keep lin as trade bait until next season when his final year of 8+ mil will be more desirable to teams, while also...waiting to see...
it may just turn out that next year will be a big year for lin as a second year starter with possibly howard and j.smith as recipients for his passes.
i can't believe people are so eager to see the chemistry built up this year blown up and replaced with so many shiny new pieces. real teams aren't like fantasy teams. stats are not the end all. these are people, personalities, that must play together, share, communicate and sometimes make sacrifices. those things are not done best by a collections of stats...

asik and lin are publicly on the trading block.

harden makes lin redundant and unecessary. howard will make asik redundant and unecessary.

they need to clear cap space for a third star.

asik and lin are good as gone.

J.J. Hickson? Meh. But we'll take LaMarcus! :p

    Link

According to league sources, several teams including the Trail Blazers, are closely monitoring the Omer Asik situation. Reports are out that the 7-0 center is available. If the Rockets get that verbal agreement they so desperately want from Dwight Howard, Asik will be moved.

One source who is tuned-in with how things could develop, tells CSNNW.com that the Trail Blazers are in the Rockets' good graces, and that could have an influence on where they choose to ship Asik when it's time to do so.

The center position is a dire need for Portland, being that they were one of the worst defensive teams in the league.

Asik, 26, had a career-year last season in his first year with Houston as he averaged 10.1 points, 11.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 30.0 minutes a game. The three-year pro even participated in all 82 games.

He has two years left on his deal at $8.3 million per.

If Portland does get the green light from Houston, don't be surprised if free agent JJ Hickson agrees to a sign-and-trade to get the deal done. If that's out of the question, there are other ways Portland could make it happen.

It is widely known that Olshey has a good relationship with Rockets GM Daryl Morey and agent Andy Miller, who represents both Asik and Hickson.

Hickson is solid, but if we still have TJ, D-Mo & Smith on the roster, no way it's going to be a straight up Asik for Hickson.

A huge no thanks for Rondo from me as well. We need a PG that can play off the ball. Rondo does not know how to shoot.

I'd take Hickson if he'd cost less than 8 million and you could still add Iggy.

Portland could absorb his salary outright if they renounce Hickson. There's not much logic in Asik-Hickson from the Rockets end unless they can either save substantial or get another piece.

If you really played it out, there's some logic if CJ McCollum were included, and you were willing to bet on a rookie PG.

Bingo. Cap space would be key I feel like. Having that extra 5 million possibly getting a Iggy, then it would be hard to not take that (maybe move one of our young 4s with it in a future deal).

Lol blazers edge fans would LOVE an Asik for Hickson swap or even for Batum! Trolling other boards Asik is seriously popular.

So how much would Hickson want in a sign and trade? He's a averaged 12/10 and the blazers fans believe he's a defensive sieve. I'd do this if you could dump another PF onto the Blazers to create more room and Hickson was something like 6 mill a year. If you could then move Lin for a pick you could offer Iggy like 13m a year.

    Bev/Canaan
    Harden/Iggy
    Parsons/Dunleavy
    Hickson/Jones
    Howard

God I am getting nothing done today....

We're not interested in Hickson. However, C.J. McCollum would work.

LMA for Asik is almost certainly a pipe dream (unless Parsons were involved), but maybe Morey could get them to toss in Meyers Leonard?

I can't see Iggy agreeing to come off the bench w/ Houston.
