Id love it if we worked somekind of a deal with the Warriors for David Lee. They are shopping him. Imagine our lineup of the below. Maybe trade them asik and lin for lee and draymore green or something. Like the way he plays.

Beverly(still rather have someone like a Jose Calderon though, need a pass first guy)
    Harden
    Parsons
    Lee
    Howard

So how is his rebounding of value when we have Howard/Asik or Howard/Smith, with Parsons/Harden also very capable rebounders for their position, and that we were already one of the best rebounding teams last season without Dwight and trotting out 2Pat/MMorris, Dmo and Carlos Delfino at PF.

And how does Rondo's assists outweigh his inability to shoot 3s when we're going to play inside out with Dwight, and he most likely will be asked to dribble past the halfcourt and hand it to Harden?

And that he'll cost nearly $13M/yr.

And if all his attributes were positive, why has Boston never scored well with his running the PG position? Even when KG/Pierce was younger?

Big contract, injury concerns, no defense.

No need to imagine. Will pout then ask for trade.

He already pouts when given a free rein and teammates like Pierce and Garnett who are both winners around him

I would love it if we got Lebron somehow..

No way warriors want lin with steph curry there.. plus if they hold on to Jack.. They are a guard heavy team why would they want another guard who needs the ball to be effective.

The Rockets if anything trade Lin mid season...They will wait it out with Lin. The Rockets keep churning PG's like a factory...If they dont think one will fit, the next one will step up.

In regards to this Lin situation, If the Rockets do manage on getting Howard(when?) and Smith(if??)...Lin would be good enough to run the offense, but he has to tremendously improve his 3 pt shot. He has to start shooting at a high clip. James is already a great set shooter, and Parsons is gonna still be a beast. The reason the Rockets give up on Lin is if Beverly can do everything Lin can do plus become a scoring threat. The key to having a player like Dwight is having guards that can work off the dribble, and be able to knock down open shots.

Lin has had an entire year's worth of data, while Beverly stats are limited to the last parts of the season, and playoff performance. I think the Rockets give Lin a bit more time, before they pull the plug on the experiment. Secretly, the Rockets hope that both do well, so that Lin becomes a better trade asset by mid season...they are just testing his market value now to see what kinda offers if any will be available...

I'm just looking for credible PG upgrades for Lin at a similar price or lower?

I'm ok with Jarrett Jack for $5M/yr, but only IF Dwight and Smith demand Smith be signed at a salary of $15M or above, for Dwight to sign here. Otherwise, much prefer Asik + White + Cash using 150% salary for trade, and stay with Lin or someone who's a clear upgrade at similar cost.

Otherwise, why bother? I mean if you save $3M to downgrade Lin to Jarrett Jack, you are still left with the same room exception and cap issues. It's Les's money, plus he gets it back with Lin's offcourt marketing anyway. We're already stretching to find a non-rookie scale PG that can be had for less than $8M that is a two-way player, that has the promise of hitting 3s at a reasonable rate, that has an elite step, can get to the line or rim, and make high efficiency assists to the rim and corner 3, and that is still improving.

Why are you upgrading the 1 spot when clearly the 4 is what destroyed the Rockets last year. When Delfino was a PF most of the season and now he's gone who are you going to have as a stretch 4. I think most of your posters have no idea what team your even talking about your just looking at stats. In McHales rotations even CP3 and WB would fail miserably, any PG not named Steph Curry would not work in this team because the pg shoots 3s and passes to Harden. I don't know if you remember watching the 4th quarter but its McFails rotation of iso Harden ftw. On top of that the PF spot got abused from teams like Memphis and Golden State. How are you going to win a championship when your play small ball and shoot 1000 3s a night with no defense.

Don't think there is much of a difference between Lin and Rondo. Lin is mediocre, sure, but Rondo is really only slightly above average.

seems more like he actually watches rondo play instead of box score watching...and equating assists for offensive impact.

Exactly. Rondo's impact on the game is wildly overrated. He's a good defender, but at the PG position that isn't enough to make up for his lack of talent offensively. He can't shoot which is pretty important for a guard and is terrified of attacking the basket because he's an awful free throw shooter.

Holding the ball for 20 seconds then passing for a semi-contested mid range shot might make for high assist numbers, but doesn't result in a good offense. Lin might in fact be a better creator since he can actually bend the defense by attacking the rim and is a willing though sometimes dumb passer. It's just too bad he's not a good shooter either.

how about Lin for Steve Blake and a couple 2nd rounders?

Blake is a great spot of 3 point shooter and fits in perfectly with Harden Iso'ing and Dwight drawing double teams in the post

Lowry is probably better than Rondo. A lot cheaper, too.
