I thought one of the 'rumours' stated he wanted a starting PG though in return, of course if he's open to any PG then the situation becomes a lot easier

I just went through 20-25 pages worth of trading ideas, can we please just stick to the news here? With regards to the rumours of Asik & Lin being made available, surprising to say the least. With regards to Asik: I thought Dwight liked him but I guess in the case of a Josh Smith or whoever he doesn't really care. With regards to Lin, I thought he really was here to stay unless CP3 came knocking at our door. No way I'd part with him for Calderon. If they do move him, I hope it's for a starting PF / back-up SG or something. Beverley could handle his own, Canaan can back him up and we can still bring in Boykins as insurance ;)

good point about Lull. didn't he say he will be playing in Hoouston next season as well?. Connecting the dots. Lull is a defensive monster. He and Bev are like two bulls..

Harris is also a unrestricted free agent. Atlanta can packiage him onto a deal with Smith. Harris is a solid PG.

Sure, but it's still being widely reported now. In fact, it seems almost as if it is an extra PUSH for it now. (talking about the Lin part)

I also assume if young PFs have been put out there, we'd hear about it. I'm just assuming CF is pretty close to omniscience as we get.

Heh, sorry. It's really hard to tell sometimes in posts about Lin, it's like the twilight zone.

I assume he'll make more than he currently does at $5.4M. Whether that be $7M or whatever, that's about the same as Lin's contract, but probably won't only be 2 yrs. Seems less flexible.

The thing is, we DON'T NEED the salary to upgrade the 4. We're already thin on our guards vs. our big men, and ATL does not want Lin. They don't need Lin. Asik they have expressed interest in the past and have a need for. That'd get a JSmith deal done most likely (whereas Lin would not).

Getting Smith would get our 2nd defensive minded big man btw...one who can also play the perimeter. Very nice.

    Morey increasing the variance ;)

Not sure what people want to get in return to Jeremy. Morey got him for FREE!!!

Morey got Asik for free as well.

    I hear you.

I see both sides to it - but, we don't know Morey's full plan either.

Whatever he comes up with, I will trust...lol. But, as far as moving Lin OR Asik... I wouldn't bank on either until it happens.

i love how everyone automatically assumes that Canaan is good enough to play backup pg on a contending team if lin get's traded. we haven't seen him play 1 second against NBA competition. reminds me of how high every one was on Machado and he looked mediocre at best.

No. He's a good defender and hustler but picks up too many fouls to play 30+ minutes a night. He's just a turnover prone as #7 and #13. The only game we have of Bev going really toe-to-toe to a real NBA caliber starting PG, he clobbered the guy and took him out that way. Then he posted a middling performance against Reggie Jackson.

Bev could become a pseudo-starter if they decide to move JLin to the bench and play him as a 30 mpg 6th man. A real, heavy duty minutes starter? Not yet. Give him a year or two.

He wont move them unless he is sure Howard is signing. If you see Asik traded in a day or two, then we know Howard has commited.Morey is shrewed and dosent give away assets.

So for 10 years, you've just been bubbling and churning inside with this stuff? I hope that sometime in the future, you can make up your mind about "everyone," since you seem to be of two minds about "everyone." Search for inner peace. I'm heard a rumor that it's a good thing to have. Wouldn't know, myself. Meanwhile, everyone here can continue to ponder the fate of Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin during this period of uncertainty and upheaval. Me? I'd be happy to keep both and hope we do, but ulimately, what I care most about is what makes the team a contender.

I mostly agree w/ this assessment. I like Bev a lot, but I like him off the bench more than as a starter, though I think he'd do a fine job if Lin were moved. Lin just has more court vision than Bev does right now and a better offensive arsenal. Reminds me of WB to OKC. Lots thought he was sort of holding KD back, etc., but the playoffs showed that sometimes having multiple tools in a tool shed can be useful lol.

Lin + Asik to SAC for Chuck Hayes + Isaiah Thomas.

Rockets clear 10.5 million to sign Josh Smith, get possible starting PG on the cheap, vet backup center.

Kings get upgrade at PG with huge upgrade for marketing appeal, rare defensive center to pair with Cousins on the frontline. Still have Tyreke, Thornton, + McLemore to fill up wings.

    Amen.

If he was referring to me with the "everyone", he can't read very well.

I for one, do NOT think Canaan is ready to jump into a backup PG role - he may be - but I sure don't feel comfortable going into the season with just him and Bev.

And as far as Bev... LOVE him, but don't feel comfortable rolling with him as my starter at this point either. Guy has 41 NBA games under his belt.

I'd LOVE to keep Lin. Definitely want to see him play next year. If he plays like he did in the second half of the season - and I think he will, if not better - we will be better than just fine.

(I DID say THEY meaning the Rockets might feel that confident in Bev and Canaan, but I hope not)
