I doubt the owner is doing it to save $. Any $ not paid to Lin and Asik will be paid to a new, high $ player. The point is that the Rockets just are not allowed under the NBA's rules to take on a big $ talent without trading away at least one of Asik or Lin.

It has nothing to do with "cheap."

Won't be surprised if they announce tonight that Howard and the Rockets has come into an agreement and will finalize the signing on July 10th.

I don't think the meetings with Mavs and Lakers will happen.

    This makes sense.

Calderon seems like a great character guy (I probably have a thing for latinos though), and he took over Lowry's starting position. Not a bad trade for Houston. I'm not sure I'll like to see Jeremy in Detroit though.

I guess some just have no concept of what a salary cap is

Perhaps Kostas Papanikolaou should be paying the Rockets?

3 team trade: asik and white to new orleans for Anderson and 2 future second round picks.

Lin and picks to phoenix for dragic.

    Dragic/beverly/canaan
    Harden/Anderson
    Parsons
    Anderson/Jones/D-Mo
    Howard/Smith

I would rather have Josh Smith.

if we get howard and lose both asik and lin, i dont think well be that much improved, if any.... i dont see why can't asik stay at 5 and move howard to 4? That's some quick trigger if we really trying to move these 2 starting players.

    I agree.

If you think about it, Lin is a good insurance if Harden goes down and Asik for Howard. Lin has proven that he can run the team.

Whatever, if they want to trade Lin, so be it.

But if you do not have a deep bench, say goodbye to the championship.

Has there been info on how much $ Calderon is asking for? I don't think it would make sense unless Calderon's contract is substantially smaller than Lin's, thus allowing the Rockets to use that $, combined with whatever is saved from an Asik trade, to throw at a big $ player.

It's very different from Miami though. Their stars did cut on their respective salaries.... they could sign high end role players and still struggled against Mavs and Spurs.
They had the best player in the GAME period. We have a No.8 player and possibly a No. 12 player in Dwight of today.

There is a danger we are left with Dleaguers and either Dwight or the third star wants a trade to Miami or whoever is second within the next 3 years.
I think a strong bench is very important no matter if we have a BIG 2, BIG 3 or BIG 4.

Why do we trade Lin for Calderon?
    We need a defensive PG
Harden is not a defensive SG, the PG must be defensive; otherwise,we can't win champion forever

Lots of truth to this and also to get away from the overwhelming hate from houston.

Exactly. Rondo is a winner and plays with heart Kobe gets praised for being a leader and this and that and he gets into it with his teammates all the time but rondo is considered a locker room cancer please. Rondo is a very tough player who just wants to win

Nah, they have enough for Dwight I thought because of Robinson. Missing a few hundred thousand but that can be fit in through the years I thought?

I think Lin/Asik is for something else.

Bev is good at D. But, i do kind of agree. Rondo is the only one that makes sense. Pure passing pg and defender. I do love calderon though.

Don't get it why ppl is so hot on Howard.

Man did nothing in LAL and get embarrassed in the playoffs. Can't win a single game by himself and yet ppl still treat him like MJ. SMH.

Cool with Rox trading Lin. It is better for both parties.

Lin + draft pick for Ersan Ilyasova? I think he would be a perfect stretch 4 next to DH
