I really, really like Kevin Love's game. I'd be more than willing to flip Scola for him -- but there are some concerns. Kevin Love is my ideal third best player on my team. I wouldn't feel good about my chances if he was the best or second best player. Is it smart to start acquiring a "Lamar Odom" type player before you have your "Kobe Bryant"? The danger in that could be "Lamar Odom" being just good enough to keep you out of the range of drafting the next Kobe. At the same time, Kevin Love would be an immediate, valuable trading chip to include in any trade for Carmelo, Iguodala, etc. That said, he's a great rebounder -- and next to Yao, he would be a double-double machine boarding shots that Yao intimidates. I'm not sure if the Timberwolves would go for it. I think Scola is the better overall player and could be a go-to for them in the post. It would also make them instantly more competitive to perhaps sell their fans on, as well as provide a Spanish influence to help in the recruitment of Ricky Rubio the following year.
They gave up Oj Mayo for him I dont think they will give him up with out at least getting back a top 5 lotto pick which is what the used to get him in the first place.
This is a knee slapper! Love to the rockets is not even close to being realistic.......stop playing with us (media)...
plus what has he really done in his short NBA carrer to make such a move? Especially if you are going to include Scola in a trade for him.....he is very young and has not proven yet to be the superstar needed on this team.plus he is a power forward...dont need him......it is written.
The rockets are intersted in every player just like any organization. The thing is people on this board act like the morey has shown us he can get a player of even kevin loves caliber. Petrie couldnt wait and tried hard to get rid of martin. Lowry pouted as he's doing now because he really, really wants to start and wont long term in houston. Love, rubio are supa-dupa pipe dreams, yet the rockets will brainwash kahn i guess. They probably couldve gotten jefferson, but passed. I guess this threa will be 20 pages also like some of the others.
Actually, Mark Cuban said publicly, during Morey's Analytic Conference, that the Mavs were very interested in Martin and, had they known Martin would have become available, would have tried hard to get him. He spoke about the Mavs being rebuffed earlier in the season when they tried to get Martin, and moved on to getting Caron Butler and made it pretty clear that he would have preferred Martin but for the availability. Do you known something different?
Love absolutely tore up the Lakers 23 points and 24 boards (including eleven offense). For anyone who says he isn't tough, they're sorely mistaken. This guy is GOOD. Webster and Love for Brooks, Battier and NY pick Kahn would do it. He's a moron.
The kings wanted to wait to see if he and evans could play together. Sentiment had already started that martin was a stat padder who doesnt contribute to winning. The Mavs wanted a wing and a big for depth vs a team like the lakers. After the arenas incident and the losing, the wizards wanted to dump salary and start over. The mavs jumped and and took butler, haywood, the high school dude who's name is slipping my mind. Once martin came back and they kept losing, it was time to move on. Initially, the kings wasnt involved in the deal with mcgrady, but the rockets wanted to help ny dump more salary, get under the tax. The rockets contacted the kings and we know morey has always like martin and his effeciency. The rockets offered scola, but the kings wanted brooks, but that wasnt happening and their next choice was landry and his small contract, low post play and age. They gladly took landry and gave up martin. I probably shouldn't have went through all that, but oh well. Oh yeah, brooks is Petrie's #1 free agent this summer. He wont give up anything right now for him because he figures he can get him for nothing in the offseason. Alot of other gm's have this thought also.
so more assets (and assets that don't play defense). this team is going to be like charmin. it probably already is.
Minny is rebuilding, perhaps if Luis was younger, but we've got nothing that would interest them. We'd have to gut the team. Plus, I'd rather take a chance on Rubio, even though he's untested.
At this point its nice to at least hear that Morey is making calls because something has got to be changed to turn this team around. I don't think Love is the answer but I think Morey is looking at getting someone that excels in rebounds and disrupting shots. If we could get Rubio from them along with Love then it would be worthwhile for us. Hopefully he doesn't stop with Minnesota and moves on to other teams. I would love to see Gerald Wallace, Steve Nash, Andre Iguodala, or hell even Carmello come up in Houston trade chatter.
as far as i can tell, the players that come up in to-houston trade rumors are the ones we can pretty much cross off our lists. morey prefers to pull trades out of mid-air.
I doubt if there will be any trades right now. Let it get close to trade deadline. when luxury tax has to be paid.
