I like Kevin Love a lot, one of the most productive players in the league today. In fact if you turned Kevin Martin into a PF he'd probably be Kevin Love, he's just efficient all over the court and grabs a ton of rebounds. I highly doubt Minny will let him go, he's like the only star that team has. I also don't know where he fits in the rotation, just like Scola he's a freaking liability on D. There's also the matter of PP needing to get some burn...
Kevin Love would look great in Adelman's system but we need to stop ignoring the fact that we need some tough, hard nosed, defensive minded, mentally strong, athletic athletes on this team. Especially at Center and Power Forward. We also need a new starting small forward. That would make Brooks and Martin a lot better at being threats.
Your post was a complete fail. You higlighted the part where I said "what else can we ADD to make this work?" meaning what else can we add to Brooks + 2 picks to make it work, As in that isn't the whole package
Oops, forgive my bad. But coming back to the topic, I seriously doubt we have anything for the T-Wolves to want to give up Love and Rubio for. Again, we are a bunch of mediocre players. A team that is rebuilding will not trade its "cornerstone of the future" for a bunch mediocre players who probably will be just as good as they are. I honestly doubt they'll give us Love even if we include Martin in the package. This is not the way to rebuild. Plus, we won't offer Martin for Love.
Agree on all counts. Until we get better personnel, I hope Rick will start Ish, Martin, Bud, Scola, and JHill. It's time for these guys to rise and shine. Otherwise, we're going down in flames, with only the draft to look forward to, and the prospect of a lost or truncated season next year. If Rick doesn't start playing these guys, especially at crunch time, then Rick becomes part of the problem. Coach 'em up, Rick!
After talking to Drexler the other day... Dampier is out out of shape but if he was in shape and ready to play he wouldn't be that bad of a option. But even after that we need to find some Carl Landry types as far as mentality wise that are 6'10 and up... at this point even 6'9 with ups. They are out there we just have to look at the list and make trade offers for every player like that and take the best ones. Just reality can't be mad at that this is the NBA not college ball where you can just be smart and win without so much athleticism.
That is a great starting line up for the situation we are in right now. Really the best starting line up we can play as of now. People will complain about defense but we are not playing good defense with any line up right now. That move alone would help this team as far as mentality and confidence a whole lot. Then when we get the players we need the bench will be even better prepared to come in a play big... especially if injuries were to occur again.
Love isn't going anywhere, I forget where but I was reading an article that basically said ownership is in LOVE with Kevin LOVE and that Rambis would go before Kevin.
Why would Yao + Brooks for Love + rubio + picks not be a good trade? Just asking? I mean obviously salaries don't match. But besides that, would that really be a bad trade?
Im a BIG Kevin Love fan...but do we need him? we have P.Patterson who i believe can be just as good as the Kevin Love/Al Horford type guys. they have the same frame...Patterson is long, strong, and works just as hard. Cant trade just to trade, we have good guys. Just need that star power.
I love klove cause not only can he rebound an have a huge prescence inside, but he also has some sick range.
I agree 100%. we have Patterson who is should be a monster. Def need to upgrade the size & athletic ability from the PG position so we can guard other PGs. In a perfect world...we could finally land Melo. im just keepin my fingers crossed.
If I were Kahn, I'd hangup the phone pretty quick. First, Yao is damaged goods and we saw it again last night, the guy just can't stay healthy. Brooks for all his does good shooting the ball is an undersized PG who does very little else above average. Minnesota just drafted 2 PGs and signed another via FAgency, doubt they'd want another. Second, Love is their franchise and Rubio is gold. Management wouldn't move Love for anything less then a superstar. Rubio can be had but he will be expensive, worth it, but expensive. Now you want them to throw in draft picks??? REALLY??? Hill, Taylor, Knicks swap and 2012 pick for Rubio and Darko This might get a conversation started.
If we are interested in Love, it would have to be to either play him at SF or move him to Denver in a deal for Melo. BTW, Love has a ridiculous rebounding rate, and he gets to the FT line a ton. He's a typical Morey player offensively. But he's another guy that would require us to get a legit big that can defend the rim. Maybe they send us him and Darko for Hill, Taylor, a first rounder, and Jeffries? Of course, if he could run at SF in a big Boston type lineup with Yao/Damp at center and Scola at PF, along with Martin and Lowry/Ish in the backcourt, that could be an interesting team. We basically pack it in the paint and dare everybody to beat us from the outside with that type of lineup.
I just don't want to take a risk, I mean we haven't really seen enough of Patterson in the NBA, I mean we all have seen that college and the NBA are two very different things. (kwame, Morrison) he looks solid, but again, k love has proven he can roll with the big boys. And that's why we should give him a chance
