technically, but i'm guessing taylor and dorsey would be sent to the d league, as well as cook or they'd throw him into the deal..either way that deal is too good for Houston on paper.

The Rockets would have to trade or waive enough of its current players in order to bring in four new players via trade. You can't just designate a player to the D-League, since that player still counts against the roster.

Any 3-for-1 McGrady deal that gets the Rockets below the tax would likely result in Brian Cook getting waived.

Any 3-for-1 McGrady deal that does not get the Rockets below the tax may require the Rockets to waive Joey Dorsey or Jermaine Taylor, although I'd like to see one of those guys at least get dealt elsewhere for a future second round pick. The Rockets would need Cook around until Thursday in order to dump him on an under the cap team (Memphis?) to get under the tax. Of course, if Les is willing to pay the tax, then maybe Cook is waived and Dorsey/Taylor are kept. But that move will cost Les a bunch of money.

Again, no D-League assignments will help the Rockets' roster management decisions.

Brian Cook for Thomas seems fair

    You can't be serious...

    More like this:

    Thomas > Cato > Swift

When Thomas gets minutes, he produces... I have no problem with that.

Tyrus Thomas might be what the Rockets need. A nice shotblocker with upside. Kelly Dwyer likes him and think Chicago mishandled him by playing him erotic minutes and not consistently help him develop.

Getting Deng would be awesome, he is a very efficient scorer.

I also like Thomas. Thomas can play 3 positions in spells (especially for our team) so he would get minutes. Give Andersen some time to watch, he may end up suprising us next year. Thomas would help with our interior defense. I wish they would get a real center, but Thomas (definetly not a real center) would still help a lot.

Thomas isn't smart, but you're not looking at it from Chicago's point of view. If it was fair, why isn't there any demand for Cook?

The same could be said about Ariza.

I don't understand how anybody could want Thomas. I just don't get the fascination. Sure he's young, 6'10 and athletic but he doesn't do anything particularly well. First of all he's got a mediocre skill set. Add to that pathetic field goal percentages, below average rebounding for a PF, missed assignments, out of control plays, random shots that leave you going WTF, no post moves, and the list could go on and on but I don't got all night.

Now to the good part well kinda.... more like sorta. Many people brought up his shot blocking in this thread as a reason to add him. His greatest "asset" shot blocking numbers aren't very impressive either. He averaged 1.6 BPG last year playing a solid 27.5 mpg. That's a lot of minutes and a lot of hype for 1.6 bpg. He avg's 1.4 bpg for his career. Hardly eye-popping.

I'm as much of a sucker for the young, athletic, full of potential player as the next guy or gal but Tyrus Thomas is not the answer to any of our problems and I just don't see him as a piece that would work out for us in the short or long term.

Is playing erotic minutes the best way to develop a post game?

Maybe getting "erotic" minutes with the cheerleaders?? ;)

Wouldn't mind being in Thomas' shoes at that point...
