Oh boy, let's trade all of our good players, including a great PG tandem for a malcontent. No thanks.

The Knicks are on top of Chris Paul's wish list? That's nice.

But guess what Mr. Paul? You don't get to decide who New Olreans trades you to.

The New York Knicks are the first team on point guard Chris Paul's wish list of clubs he'd like New Orleans to trade him to, according to sources.

Orlando, where he could team with superstar center Dwight Howard, is the second team on Paul's list, which includes Dallas and then Portland, according to sources.

In the ideal scenario, Paul and the Denver Nuggets' Carmelo Anthony would wind up in New York to play alongside Amare Stoudemire, forming a big three that could compete with Miami's newly formed super trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

"Those guys want to beat the three guys in Miami," a source close to the situation said.

A report Wednesday on CBSSports.com said Paul saw what James did in signing to play alongside Wade and Bosh and has designs on doing something similar.

Paul and his representatives are expected to meet with the Hornets within the next week, the sources said. If they are not presented with realistic scenarios that convince Paul that New Orleans can build a contender very quickly, he'll ask the club to begin speaking to the Knicks, Magic, Mavericks and Trail Blazers about possible trades.

Anthony has one year left on his deal with the Nuggets before he can become a free agent. The Nuggets, meanwhile, have offered Anthony a three-year, $65 million contract extension.

Anthony has until next June 30 to sign the extension, and the Nuggets have said they have no intention of trading Anthony. While most league executives believe Anthony will sign the extension, several sources close to him said he will not sign and that his ultimate desire is to play in New York.

Paul's demands come in the immediate aftermath of a Hornets overhaul within the coaching staff and front office. A little more than a month after making 38-year-old Monty Williams the youngest coach in the NBA, the Hornets hired Williams' longtime friend and former NBA teammate, 40-year-old Dell Demps, as general manager Wednesday.

Chris Broussard is a senior NBA writer for ESPN The Magazine.

The odd thing is that Chris thinks that the Knicks (minus the talent they use to trade for him and you know Curry is NOT in the deal and they have NO #1 picks to trade) have the best chance of challenging the 3 stooges. Lakers - I understand. Orlando - I understand. Dallas and Portland - I can give you. But the KNICKS? Over all the other teams including the Thunder or Spurs???

I hope he's traded in the next few weeks. I don't have the stomach for much more of this drama.

I think you misunderstood - not a superstar being traded for Paul. Paul wants to go play with a superstar.
Yao, despite his fame, Yao isn't a top 20 player. He might recover and get into that group, but no one is clamoring to play with him. Everyone wants a mini Dream Team, and we don't count.

When the best player in the league is a wuss, the whole league follows.

BTW, I would be torn if we did get Paul in a trade. I recognize his enormous talent. But I have never liked this guy. He is one of the dirties players. Remember his "punch the guy in the nuts when the refs aren't watching" act and all the ridiculous flopping? He is Stockton v.2.0. Would you trade a bunch of our good character guys for John Stockton?

    if it means rings absolutely

thats my main issue with Paul - an absolute stud but the guy is an ass. I'd root for him of course if he was a Rocket, but it will be hard the first 2-3 games to do so.

in a league that is driven by stars and superstars to even be mentioned by the national media you need one. the last time the rockets were even mentioned in a favorable light was in 04/05 when mcgrady was a legit star in the league if not superstar since then the team is always written off. you want to look good and have other players come to your city to play? have a superstar or a history of recent success - or both- i think Paul would provide that.

Adelman would change his system to accomodate Paul's talents and i think Paul could thrive here with the athletes we have at every position except the center.

Paul is on the Rockets list is just a matter if NO is willing to deal him to a division rival - this is a far cry from the Bobby J, Maciej Lampe and David Wesley trades of past - this is a franchise player that is being traded here

If those three have the same feeling about this and are willing to come togheter ... you just can't stop it. We have seen it in Miami and we are going to see it in NY. The East will become stronger than the West and we haven't seen that for a while ...

I'm not sure if that particular deal would appeal enough to NO or if Indy would include Hibbert, but I think that you are on the right track in bringing in Indy as a trade partner. Brooks doesn't have long term value to the Hornets but he would to Indy.
