Yummmm, pie in the sky... There it is.

Could get interesting if he is in fact made attainable.

We have anything that NO could want. Division foe or not, Houston has one of better players/expiring/picks to offer.

Also disprove the notion by some that superstars don't get traded.

I don't see why the Lakers would do it either. They would go from one of the tallest teams, to one of the shortest in one fell swoop.

if we do trade for him then we have to make sure to lock him down to a new deal because isn't his deal over at the end of this season?

Morey if you are reading this, PLEEEEASEEEEEE GET CHRIS PAUL!!!! New Orleans needs to trade Paul to a team NOT on his list to show others that they don't just give in to player demands....

New Orleans does not want AB. It would have to be a 3 team deal where Brooks went elsewhere. With that being said, I don't think Houston is even a possible destination.

Wow, the pipe dream just got real.

I think he wants to play for orlando. If things don't work out with them I think we have a shot. NY dosen't have any pieces to trade (and we still have thier draft picks). I don't see the lakers gutting their team to get paul after a winning a championship with that squad.

If he finishes out his contract, I'll think he will do exactly what lebron did and see where anthony goes (by then NY might have a strong chance).

lol, I just got through complimenting brooks on another thread, but brook is trying to be like chris paul. If we can get the finished product oh hell yeah.

-This is heart. This is why I want this guy.

Agreed, not to mention that would give them 3 point guards. They just resigned Fisher and they signed Blake. They both signed for multiple years, the opposite of what the Hornets would want to take back. It would be amazing to land Paul and Okafor. It gives us the last two pieces of the puzzle, a superstar and a shot-blocker.

and whoever would end up with AB would only have him locked up for 1 season contract-wise, so not sure what kind of player/contract they would be moving to NO in such a trade

If CP3 has his way, he'd likely to go somewhere else other than Rockets. There are better odds out there than an unknown Yao.

If Hornets has the final say in the trade, CP3 still is not likely to be a Rocket. They are divisional opponents after all.

AB's contract is not a problem. He'll be a restrict FA I believe.

Odd thought but when exactly was the last time a ball dominating point guard led their team to a championship?

What if Paul simply doesn't want to go to Houston? That's all it would take even if Paul isn't a free agent, right? I don't think NO would force him into any situation.

Actually, does Paul have veto rights if they wanted to trade him? I have no idea.

Either way, I'm not allowing myself to get my hopes up yet given the current set of information.

I can see people praying for this for weeks and months only to be disappointed in the end as was the case with Bosh. Some may not mind but I don't want to go through that again right now.

explain to me why being a divisional rival automatically makes us an unwanted trade partner... this isn't football, every team plays every team at least twice... is it really that big of a deal to play against the player you traded away at the most 2 more times(only 1 more at home) by trading him in the division if they offer the best deal?

He doesn't. Not enough years in the league and with the same team to have one, I believe.

His one leverage is to threaten to refuse to resign when he becomes a FA in 2 years-- same leaverage he has now against the Hornets.

If he doesn't particularly want to play for Houston (or any other team), that team can still trade for him and just bet on the fact that the team can do well enough in the next 2 years for him to decide it's worth a staying for.

three way deal with main pieces being:

    AB or Lowry to IND
    Granger to NO
    CP3 to Hou

Throw in fillers so salaries work

I see. That would help our cause then.

I just don't see NO forcing the issue. Then again, Paul is apparently going around talking about wanting to leave and the Hornets have a real nice backup plan in Collison so maybe they'd ignore Paul's wishes out of revenge, assuming Morey can convince their GM to deal intra-division.

Maybe NO can narrow it down to "either you go to Houston or you play out your contract here."

No disrespect, here are some guys who won rings.
    Rajon Rondo
    Tony parker
    Isaiah thomas

Chris Paul averages 10-11 assists a game, and arguably as an individual all around player (defense too) is just as good at this point in his career as those guys before they won it all.
