I can only see this happening if Morey is able to bring in a player like Melo as well.

I also doubt Paul or the team has any inclination for him to stay within the division if he leaves NO.

He's my favorite non-Rocket so I'd be happy if we got him but I don't see it happening unless new facts become available.

I also don't like the trend of the league and it's star players over the last several years but I'm sure I'd get over it quickly if it benefits us.

It would make more sense for them to trade Paul to a team that's already really good, instead of turning a decent team in their devision into another contender. But, man, I hope the Rockets can somehow pull it off.

Naahh...it's not a buzzkill. When the reporter asked him about his toast in NY to team with Carmelo and Amare, he didn't deny it all. He just avoided the question. If he was giving the Hornets his support, he would have denied the possibility of a New York big 3.

that would make the lakers worse IMO

their advantage is their length inside with Bynum, Gasol and Odom lose two of the 3 and they wont do as well.

The lakers will offer Odom plus fillers for paul but i dont think NO wants to do anything with odom or his contract.

if they are gonna lose paul they are gonna try to drop all their big long term contracts and load up on young players and draft picks to rebuild. unless you are a major market thats the only way to rebuild. you cant expect to lure a big name player through FA or a trade and rebuild over night. What was the last small market team that transformed itself instantly? The only teams that have done that of late were: the heat (w/ shaq trade), lakers (gasol), Boston (garnett, allen) and of course the heat again all of those teams were larger market or better FA destinations.

I am sure if Paul is on the table Morey will try to make a move if he feels the Rockets have a shot. I am not a huge fan of Paul (i think the guy is a prick/fake thug) but there is no denying his skill and that he is a top 2 PG in the league and a top 10-15 player overall

If NY had anything to trade, this would seem likely. However, we have their first round picks, and they own nothing else to speak of. By not sending Paul to NY you essentially make them lottery picks, and probably receive them in the deal. I'd say we have to be a front runner if this rumor turns out to be valid. Not many teams out there with the assets for a trade. A lot of the teams who do have them, don't need Paul.

Sucks for NO fans, but Shinn was seriously considering dumping Paul earlier this summer just to cut cash which is damn absurd. I don't blame CP3 for wanting out since it's clear that team isn't committed to building a winner. If the team can let it be known they want to trade him, I have no problem with him wanting to be traded.

Exactly, so would NO. Similar production, he doesn't have an injury history, and he's 1/13 the price.

Plus, New Orleans gets the right to swap picks with NY in 2011 and NY's pick in 2012, and the maximum allowable cash.

Why do they do it? They basically get to start over, and get some good assets (picks and expiring contracts) to do so. They save a lot of money.

    Our roster and minutes:

    Paul (32), Lowry (16)
    Martin (34), Budinger (10), Taylor (4)
    Battier (32), Budinger (16)
    Scola (32), Okafor (10), Hayes (6), Patterson
    Yao Ming (24), B. Miller (16), Okafor (8)

    I can dream, can't I? :)

Are y'all fcking serious? Darren Collison has similar production to Paul? That's like saying Rudy Gay has similar production to Lebron.

yup plus great defense as well. there are a bunch of elite young point guards in the league right now.....derrick rose, john wall, brandon jennings, russell westbrook, maybe stephen curry.......but collison is the one who's impressed me the most for some reason.....i just get the feeling he has big playoff series wins in his future..
