The Knicks look a lot more attractive now, they are winning some games.

No reason to even consider this if he isn't willing to sign a deal to stick around here for a while.

I think if I was Anthony -- since I'm all about the winning with all that money already in the bank -- I'd say no to all extensions and just sign or sign-and-trade in the offseason to the best situation. If the Knicks are going to be the best destination, why make them give up Gallinari in a trade if you can have him as a team-mate?

Unfortunately for us, Knicks are a good team this year.

.....THE KNICKS ORGANIZATION IS SMARTER THAN YOU THINK.... ;)

    IT IS WRITTEN.

Camby and Pyzbilla for sale. I'd take ethier. Don't think Melo would resign with the Nets, so IMO they're just wasting assests on a one year rental. Especially considering they're not going to be contending with Melo and the current roster.

My prediction: Melo uses the threat of opting out to initiate a trade. If Denver trades him to some place where he is unwilling to sign his extension, he will pick up the remaining year of his deal so he can be free in 2012 to match up with Paul and both of them decide where they are going to play.

He's going to NY. He wants the glamor, and doesn't want to wait until the Nets relocate.

Melo is going to New York one way or another, it will come down to the last minute of the trade deadline in February and the Nuggets will cave and take whatever they can get out of Danillo and Randolph and a 2014 first round pick.

I seriously doubt that Melo would agree to sign an extension with the Nets if they are depleting their roster to do so, and in this case they are allowed to be in the negotiations as a bargaining chip for the Nuggets but not for Melo's team of brokers.

The Nuggets best bet would be to get a third team involved like the Rockets who can give the Knicks draft picks in exchange for something the third team wants in exchange.

As for the Blazers... only fans in Houston can empathize with the situation they are faced with now, only that with Tracy McGrady's situation, nobody knew it was going to be as bad as it was. In Brandon Roy's case, we all know how bad its going to be and how he will un-intentionally hold the franchise hostage for 4 more seasons. They were fortunate enough that Oden broke down before they signed him to a ridiculous extension as well.

As for the players they are making available... ehh... for contending teams those players could be difference makers, but to a team like the Rockets, nothing is worth more than a short term rental to get just a couple more wins. In the long-run its too short-sighted to give up assets for a Joel Prizbilla or Marcus Camby even though they could help out now.

If that be the case, then would offering the pick swap back to the Knicks along with Jeffries and Budinger be enough for us to get Turiaf and Randolph from them?

I would be highly upset if the Knicks land Iggy.

That depends on the price we could get him for, and the estimated likelihood that we could convince him to stay during the time he is here.

dont want roy or anthony unless we can get them cheap. And that won't happen. I am concerned roy likes to hog the ball and dominate the ball too much. Not sure if roy is a good teammate team kind of player. Same for anthony and besides I think it's clear anthony wants to go to NY or Miami or LA somehow.

Rockets can do like astros and randy johnson for maybe half of the season on rental. I don't see anthony signing any extension for rockets anyway. Best bet for anthony is a half year rental and see how the lockout plays out.

How much would we have to lose to only have anthony for half season?

Our best tradeable pieces are scola martin and brooks. I am willing to let go of brooks and (not without pain) let go of scola. if that could be enough to get chris paul I doubt it but scola and brooks + filler for chris paul is something that at least rewards NO to an extent. Scola is legit and valuable to another team.

Remember people we can't just offer taylor and a bag of beans for kobe. It's got to mean something to the other team unfortunately. That's why I think brooks is the odd man out.. and if we HAVE to sweeten it all the way, scola is our next huge piece. Not saying I would feel real hot about a frontcourt of yao hill hayes miller but if it means a backcourt of chris paul lowry martin then I say go for it. and if we can somehow keep scola

That's what I was thinking. They've also helped Nash stay a top player much longer than anyone thought he would be.

I think that has a lot more to do with Nash than the organization themselves.

Nash is fine wine. The older he gets, the better he gets. This guy's basketball IQ is off the roof, and he always finds new ways to adapt to his regressing speed and athletism.

If I recall correctly, there were concerns about Nash's back when he was in Dallas. That's what I was thinking of with him.
