Don't blame him one bit. We only offered him a 1 year deal and he's offered 3 years in a place he loves, LA. He wouldn't fit into our rebuilding plans anyway. Good luck Ron!
Last year's "Brick Three" is officially gone. TSlack, Tofu and Testy had so much promise and delivered so little .... Maybe we need to build with some really solid reliable players.
damn this sucks, going to our rival, it almost seems like a low blow but then again we offered him one year so it must feel mutual. its just business, i hope we can retain some of that toughness but im gona miss the guy. Does this mean they arent signing odom either?
To tell you the truth, I'm kinda glad. As much as I love Artest's toughness, he's an incredibly fustrating player to watch offensively. I'm more peeved at how cheap the Lakers got him
Screw that, I am instantly no longer a Ron Artest fan. This, after that heated, competitive series? The Cavs I would've been okay with, but not this.
I can't believe Artest is doing this after how we treated him in the stands. We even offered him beer!!!
I respect you on here and I respect your post but I have to break it down to you. #1. Yes it was hard on the Rockets and the fans that Yao would be out for the season but thing is wasn't it said that considering Yao's height and size that he would face injuries throughout his whole career??? If im wrong about that i apologize. #2. Just like the Ron Artest situation Gortat choose the team that would give him the most money. The Mavs offered him their full mid level. I don't think Morey was going to offer that to a guy who is basically unproven. Even if he is proven he was a one year wonder. I don't think you can call a guy proven after only one year. #3. That whole Ron Artest brought toughness to this team is waaaaayyyyyy overrated. 22 game winning streak. Wasn't that toughness. Ron wasn't here for that. The true warrior who brought toughness and passion to this team was Deke. I find it funny that when he wasn't signed this team was soft. When they signed him and had his presence on the court and bench this team played a lot better. Chuck Hayes brought his toughness and hustle to the team. Others also b4 Ron. So in a respectful way that toughness you mention is tooooo overrated. Also I wouldn't call a 5 year $32 million dollar contract cheap
I think it's clear the Lakers wanted him more than the Rockets. He also, like most players, wants a chance to win. So, not only did the Lakers like him enough to pursue him over Ariza, they're also the defending champs and are set up for a dynasty run. Win-win for Ron. Can't blame him. Morey's gotta step his game up .... BIG TIME.
