It wouldn't work for Kobe because Ron would be too busy trying beak off to Kobe in third person about how he's the LeBron prototype!!

JK I'm kidding, hope the best to Ron in L.A just don't mess with Houston.

If I'm Ron Artest and if I had to make a choice between resigning with the Rockets after playing there one year for another year at the m.l.e or go play for the Lakers? Hmmmm...tough choice. Let's see.
Lakers: team with best chance to win championship. Willing to pay for long term deal. All star game to be played in LA in a few years. Unlimited access to celebrities, clubs, glamour, hollywood bright lights.
Houston Rockets: Yao out for the year, got one year offer not much more than Lakers, unpredictable weather. Bars and some clubs. More bars. Hmmmmmm...tough choice where to play.

you know what BUGS THE HELL OUTTA ME

more so than all what tracy has done (though thats certainly not forgivable)

is that Artest is first Free Agent of note, actually not forget the name the first free agent that was a productive player leave the rockets in a long time.

Who was the last free agent that LEFT the rockets? many have signed here, many have been traded away but outside of Ryan Bowen and David Wesley, both of whom were either a) finished with their nba career or b) not a productive player have left the Rockets.

Artest is the first player in the long time who just up and left.

He had chosen LA well before even the season started now that I think about it and all this.

There was a story last year how artest came to kobe after the lakers lost to the celtics and told him how he would come to LA and help him win a title.

then right when Ron was told that he was traded the first words outta rons mouth was "the lakers?"

he came to houston and was forced to play the PR role and said all the right things but I think his mind was made up right away that he wasnt going to come back to Houston.

I am glad that he was on the team last year he brought a lot of good to the team and I am sure many people will disagree but he was a good addition and he always played hard.

Thats what makes this all the more maddening and frustrating to me, he seemed to be cut from the same cloth as houston rockets past but certainly not the same loyalty.

After the series ended with the lakers he was at a lot of laker home games, sure you may be in LA but it seemed that like Ron was only in LA after the season ended.

then You keep saying how great houston is and how you want to come back, all the right things but then you come on the radio and say the same thing all the while you were paling around with Lamar Odom in LA and basically your mind was made up.

Then to say you chose the lakers offer because it was the maximum they could afford and thus giving a maximum effort and that even the rockets did offer the same contract you would have left for LA.

This has nothing to do with Yao at all, Yao being hurt gave Ron a nice PR spin to it, a nice out. Had Yao been fine Ron would have still left for LA as soon as possible.

He is as two faced as they come in the league.

it burns me up because as I said no productive player has ever left the Houston Rockets in the last maybe 8-9 years as a free agent.

I cant think of another player who CHOSE another team over the Rockets like that, especially when money was equal.

If Yao was healthy I would have liked to have Ron back, but since he isnt I am fine with Ariza actually since he is younger I just wish Ron would have done a sign and trade so the rockets could have gotten something in return.

I hope Ron breaks his own knees while tripping over and injuring Kobe and Gasol in the process. (seriously what other bad karma can the Rockets get right now so yes i am saying it) at the very least ruin the chemistry in the lockerroom as you may or may not have done here.

F you Ron Artest! I am tossing your jersey out tomorrow after I use it as a rag to clean my car.

I cheered for you and hoped you would have stayed a Rocket like you were "saying" all along, defended you when others criticized your play not anymore man I think you are really overrated (thought you are a bargain at the MLE) defensively and your "defense" will "improve" because you are on the lakers.

Artest never chose to come here, he chose to LEAVE here

at least McGrady for all of his faults forced a trade to come to Houston.
at least Mobley took less to play here and played with a heart condition
at least Francis re-signed here after being bought out and didnt want to get traded away from here

People talk about how McGrady throws his teammates under the bus, well Ron Ron just threw all of us under the bus

    /end rant

I am so happy to see Artest go to the Lakers. Let's see how that miserably shooting 3 point shooter ball hogger plays along side of Kobe.

HAHAHA! Little do the clueless Lakers know that Artest is still employed by the Rockets.

Morey's idea was to simply pay Artest to blow up the Lakers. Ron is a mercenary after all.

    MOREY IS A GENIUS!

Artest is clearly better than Ariza. But Artest's years are limited and I don't see him as our prolonging franchise player, now that Yao and Tmac are gone.

Ariza is young and hell of a role player as seen in the Lakers. I think this is our the start of our building block for 2010! Oh yeah, he's also fills our weakness, length and athleticism!

Just wanted the Ric Bucher twitter since it was locked.

I think he was saying that the Lakers source were denying it all the way when he was asking yesterday if there was a possibility of Ron signing with the Lakers......not that their denying that he actually commited with them today.

6 mill is going to be overpaying him?? are you kidding me........have you checked nba salaries? you cant even find me a guy that gets 12 ppg making 6 mill a year, much less bring the defensive intensity ron does, plus he'll score more than 12....

trevor ariza is going to be a bigger FA bust than stromile swift, it'll probably take no more than a month before adelman puts him in his dog house.......this kid was a nobody in ny, he was nobody in orlando, he did well in LA cause he's like the cherry on top........but when you got piece of garbage cake like the rockets have right now, that cherry on top don't matter.

James Posey left us in 2003.

Kinda hard to blame it all on Ron when we only offered him a 1 year contract. I'd say the feeling was mutual in that the Rockets didn't want Ron back also.
