Why the hating???? When Yao's future is probably over and TMac gone, you know he was going somewhere with "greener" pastures. The chickens have come home to roost. Players like Yao have a certain expiration date and the Rockets should have known that when they drafted him. The onus was always on them to have a viable plan b,c,etc....
I don't think the hate is really directed at Ron. I think it's just frustration about the Rockets situation with Yao/Tracy/injuries/etc. Ron going to the Lakers is just the cherry on top. Good for Ron, downer for us.
its gonna work cuz they got the right coach and hes gonna be led by kobe alot of why ron went crazy so much was cuz adelman didnt know when to sit him down but philip doesnt care who u are if u dont run the triange u dont play. i dont mind artest signing with la but im a be pissed if they dont find a way to sign von wafer u gotta remember that boy is only 23.
Well good for him, he's lost a major step and I wouldn't want the guy long term, he was a good guy though. It's just sad to see the position our club is in, the future is such an unknown...
yes I have and I live in houston, ive lived in new jersey before and its about the same stuff as in cleveland, don't disrespect bro. artest is a pos cause he could have gotten money from a team like toronto, and other places, and he could have signed for the MLE at cleveland as well. why does it have to be the team I hate the most he goes to?? **** that pos hood rat.
Look at it this way. We know we are building a team for the future. No longer do we have to wonder the what ifs rather we will know with certainty that Rockets are ready to head in a whole new direction. Whatever happens happens.
The Lakers did not like him more than Ariza, the offered him the same amount to Ariza, and went after him once Ariza balked at their offer.
What sucks is that he's signing for 6 million a year. I mean that is a sweet heart deal for a player of his skill. I think we are approaching tank mode because if we pay Trevor Ariza 5.6 million a year, he better suddenly "erupt" into a 16 ppg type of player or something.
For f***'s sake! Anywhere but LA, Ron! And for the MLE!?!? Clearly he's going for the ring. I think he would've stuck around if Yao wasn't injured. The only thing to look forward to is Ron hogging the ball w/ blinders on and driving while Kobe throws up his hands in the air in total disbelief.
Amazing 6 million for Artest....... Think about the other players getting paid more than that. Lakers got a steal.
i think "con artest" would be a little better but i dont fault him at all for going to la. someone going after a ring should be appreciated not considered a traitor. besides he was only here for ONE SEASON so its not like he owed us anything. oh and the offer we made him was laughable he'd have been an idiot to take it. it looks like we're rebuilding and ron ron just wasn't part of the plan. which was probably the right decision
WTF? 18 Mil three years!! Eff him. If that's all he wanted, we could have easily, easily, easily matched that. Eff him.
Four things: 1) A young team like the Rockets will be next season needs the maturity, toughness, leadership and court sense a player like Battier brings to the team. I'm not as much in a rush to trade him as many here are. 2) I'm excited about the prospect that still remains of acquiring Gortat, Ariza, Budinger, and Taylor. That would not be a bad off-season. We get younger, faster, and more athletic. When Yao returns (I hope!) we'll be a very different team but still strong defensively. If not, 2010 looks even stronger for a FA acquisition. 3) We retain the potential to grab a very solid player in 2010 with expiring contracts (Bosh, Johnson, etc.) and we should have a decent draft choice. 4) Amare scares me. We don't need to risk our future again on an oft-injured superstar. Bosh/Gortat/Hayes Scola/Landry/Dorsey Ariza/Battier/White Brooks/Taylor/? Lowry/Lull?/? That looks pretty solid to me. We will need some perimeter depth, though. Brooks/Taylor/
