Yup. Both players have a lot of potential if put in the right hands/organization and I think if they ended up here they would turn out to do very well for us. Grizz are shopping thabeet, so I could really see I thabeet/mayo deal happening for us.

I cant believe you guys do not think a trade of lee for mayo will not improve this team. I love lee, but o.j mayo is a far better player. He's a potential all star player. He's struggling right now, but so is aaron brooks and I'm sure both will eventually return to their old form.

If we get mayo, I say we trade martin while were at it.

Lee/Jeffries for Mayo/Thabeet and then turn around and do a Brooks/Hill/pick for DeMarcus Cousins trade, and I'll be on board.

    Just an idea.

Mayo/Thabeet for Lee/Jeffries works. Veteran big man to help their post season run And frees up money for them this offseason to sign Gasol

I would love to have Mayo's D and diverse skill set on the Rockets. I was in grad school at USC when he was playing there, really explosive player, exciting to watch. If we got Mayo, AB would have to be on the move though, right...?

Why is Mayo not a "traditional two-guard"? Just wondering.

The way it makes us better is that Mayo has a ton more upside than Lee.

If you trade for Mayo, it's because you think he can evolve into the superstar people envisioned when he was a HS and college superstar. You know, the kind of player you can't find drafting between 10-15 every year. Does it put us in the playoffs tomorrow? Of course not, but it's a gamble... we pay a relatively low price (in Lee, a guy who most think is who he is) for a potentially enormous gain.

I will agree with you in that I think Thabeet's a stiff, but again, as long as you're not giving up anything more than expirings or players you know are not/will not ever be in your plans, why not roll the dice? You can't teach 7'3.

I'd call Thabeet a lottery ticket that you bought using change that has collected in the bottom of a drawer. Will you hit the big jackpot? The tiniest of odds say you will... but there's also a small (but slightly better) chance you win $2 or $10... all with a little loose change.

IMO, Mayo >>>>>> Lee, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Just talking about on court production/talent, ignoring off the court issues professionalism, and player ability to produce on our offensive system, those are up to DM to figure, and try to predict how well he could do.

For those that are saying that he would come off the bench, donĀ“t forget, we will only make this trade after Melodrama is over, meaning, that we would go young. This is not a trade that would improve an are of need.

This is about getting a very talented young SG that could even play PG for short periods of time, giving us the ability to probably give a look at Thabeet, and see if he can do something in this league. But most importantly, by going young and already securing a starting young SG, we could use Martin and Scola, to go out there after a young beast (reports a long time ago said that NJN were willing to give up Favors for a Scola or/and Martin)

These kind of trades only make sense if we decide to go young, and IMO, Mayo is a great start

No disrespect, but who gives a **** about "now", this season is over...

Its about assembling the best talent to compete in future season's... and Mayo for Lee is a clear upgrade in talent..

    I'm kind of conflicted here.

My thinking has been that it would take quite a bit to pry Lee away. He's got some Rip Hamilton and a dose of MadMax in him IMO. Solid 2 way future starter

And while Mayo probably still has the higher ceiling, Lee is the better player at the moment, w/upside too.

Jefferies contract has obvious value ....

I've also coveted Thabeet for the right price........This guy didn't dominate the Big East the WAY he did by accident. I realize there have been issues adjusting to the speed of the NBA but believe on his present defensive impact alone he warrants rotation time. But let CD work with him regularly....with some Dream thrown in again here and there.
I assumed his market value would be higher than this.

With minutes Mayo would likely flourish .......

I DO the deal AND commit to MAJOR rebuilding.

If we get him though I agree we should just shop Martin. Along with that Scola and just go Young. Lowry Mayo Twill Hill/Pat (Instert Center). I'm curious what Chicago might give us for Martin actually. They would be a Contender now with him.

T-Will/Mayo/Martin/PPat/Cousins is an awesome lineup for the future.

Any trade chatter coming from Houston? Seems like they have a very crowded but talented backcourt.

    Chad Ford (1:29 PM)
I talked about this last week, but they're being very aggressive. No one is untouchable on that team. They have an interesting mix of expiring contracts, young players and draft picks. I expect them to make a deal ... though who knows what it will be. With everyone on the block, there are a number of ways it could go.

Mayo is very talented and has shown flashes of what potential he might hold.

Lee for Mayo is a steal in my opinion. Would be a great trade for the present and future.

The now is absolutely important from LA's standpoint. If we do some sort of Lee-for-Mayo based swap and take on more salary it only deepens our LT tax hole. I like Lee/Jeffries-for-Mayo/Thabeet but it adds an extra $1M in salary ($2M with LT penalties).

If you own a basketball team and were presented an idea like this (that likely won't affect the W-L column yet cost millions more), what would you do? Sure, it might benefit you in the long-run but for right now are you REALLY ready to absorb all that?

Mayo will be a 20 pt career scorer and is a solid defender...He just needs to go to the hole more and he'll be great in a Rockets uniform...We've always had guys at the 2-guard that didnt mind contact...I'd be the first to get a Mayo jersey if we trade for him...

I think the better question is, other than Noah (who is a given), what exactly could they give the Rockets that would be worth Martin?

Yes, let's turn our back court short enough and with crappy defense to only be able to match up with lil league bball.

Mayo is seriously underrated in this board, hes a special player. Right now, his stock is low, we need take advantage of this situation. If we get mayo, I wouldnt mind trading kevin martin for another player because I think Mayo solves our needs as go to scorer during crucial moments of the game.
