I don't know how i feel about Thabeet, but Mayo for Brooks would be a nice deal for Houston.

Thabeet is crap and will basically give nothing to this organization...

Mayo + 1st round pick + 2nd round pick (In a different year)
    for
Brooks, Hill or Jared (I have not looked at the #'s to see if it would work)

If your going to trade Battier we might as well trade him to a real contending team because we owe it to the guy. Get a later 1st round for him.

This move, if it were to go thru, would signify that we're completely starting from scratch. I strongly believe that Morey is simply not ready to do this. We completely give up any semblance of defensive talent we have on this offensive heavy roster. Not going to happen.

Sorry for the late reply, LTF. I have not heard anything lately about the Rockets talking with the Grizzlies, but that doesn't mean anything.

My opinion only is the Rockets would see Mayo over Lee as an upgrade and Thabeet as the anchor tied to the deal. Rockets are looking for a desperate team they can get a major haul from by taking back salary. Is Mayo enough of a prize to put Memphis tops on that list? I'm really not sure. Given his position (PG/SG), I tend to think not, but again, that's just my opinion.

Thanks, MemphisX... appreciate the insight. Interesting take on Mayo as PG (almost how I feel about Terrence Williams). Mayo certainly showed terrific shooting numbers in his first two pro seasons, but the assist/turnover doesn't exactly make you feel all warm and fuzzy about his PG prospects. He's only a year and a half younger than Lowry too, who is showing improvement this year in his shooting/scoring.

Here's a good article on Mayo working on the transition from SG to PG this past summer:

Agreed. Also, Mayo actually measured at 6' 3 1/4 " during the draft measurements and combine. The fact is, he's smallish for an NBA two-guard.

Well he ACTUALLY measured in at 6' 4 1/4" at the combine measurements. That is, if you're willing to use the same height score that is used for everyone else?

The 'NBA' height of players is the height they measure with shoes on - and Mayo is 6'4 1/4 with shoes on.

It's still short for an NBA 2-guard, but it's an inch taller than an Eric Gordon, and 2 inches taller than a Ben Gordon and although he's 3/4 of an inch shorter than Courtney Lee, he has a much bigger wingspan, which is an important measurement for guards (the height of their reach determines their ability to contest a shot with hand up).

Before the draft I was CONVINCED Mayo would be a complete bust. He was a very pleasant surprise - and I have no doubt he' a much better NBA player than Courtney Lee.

The trouble with bringing him in to our squad is that he's a 2 - and we're kind of full at that spot with Martin. I don't know how it helps us very much unless we get something else too?

Ehh... does measurements are without shoes, people usually go with the shoe measurement, given that they will be wearing them on the court lol...

Here are some other guards without shoes measurement:
    John Wall
    6'2.75 (w/o shoes)
    Derrick Rose
    6'1.5 (w/o shoes)
    Eric Gordon
    6'2 (w/o shoes)
    Aaron Brooks
5'10.5 (w/o shoes) ~ man this guy is a midget...

If we trade for Mayo and switch him to PG, he'd have a size advantage on most point guards..

You have to do Mayo for Lee just on the potential aspect in regards to Mayo.

Randolph+Mayo+Thabeet for Scola+Brooks+Hill+Budinger+Jeffries+2nd round pick. That allows us to keep Lee.

    Hayes/Miller/Thabeet
    Randolph/Patterson
    Battier/Lee/Williams
    Martin/Mayo/Williams
    Lowry/Smith/Williams

I like this idea but I would move Lee to the starting line-up since Battier contract is expiring ;)

I have been proposing essentially the exact same trade idea for weeks. I definitely agree with this.

I'd like to try to find a way to get Sam Young and Battier involved...

The only reason Memphis would think of this trade would be because they do not think they can resign Randolph & Gasol. However trading away Thabeet & Mayo should easily give them cap space to do so with the expirings coming in (Jeffries & Brooks if they don't want him).

Personally, I don't think Memphis anything like this at all. They have a legitimate shot at the playoffs even with Gay injured for the first time in awhile, and trading Randolph ends that chance. That organization is run very wierd, but even they are not stupid enough to blow that chance.

I've heard Griz setting too high of a price for OJ. RT @edmondedantes: @alanhahn your thoughts on maybe the Knicks should trade for Mayo?

This guy is a really reliable source and he is reporting that:

"**NBA HOT RUMOR** Source: Grizzlies are engaged with 3 teams - OJ Mayo & Randolph (1 Or Both) will most likely be gone be4 deadline"

    http://twitter.com/#!/incarceratedbob

Could this possibly mean that Morey is really considering the Lee for Mayo deal?

I'd rather brooks for mayo. Hell, brooks and something else. i don't see how swapping mayo for lee is that much of an upgrade.

With the confusion on whether Lee might play tonight it might be hinting at some sort of a trade involving him.
