I get that you logically would think it would matter, but it never does. That's my point. Players never pick Houston because of an income tax advantage.

We should be going after Melo right now. Trade everyone for Melo and pair him with Dwight this upcoming summer.

Now that the Knicks have Lin they might not ask for Lowry.

    A line up of...
    Lowry
    Lee
    Melo
    Patterson
    Howard

    would be nice.

[rQUOTEr]The Rockets and Warriors, specifically, continue to pursue Howard and would be hesitant to give up pieces in a Kaman deal first.

    ...

Yet for all the focus on Howard's preferred list of destinations -- New Jersey, Dallas and the Lakers -- Smith has always been focused on landing the best deal, no matter the team. That means, of course, that teams like the Rockets and Warriors -- which are willing to "rent" Howard for the remainder of the season despite not knowing if he would re-sign as a free agent this summer or play out the final season of his deal (an option worth $19.5 million) -- might still be in the running.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, sources say Otis Smith has yet to show any serious interest in anyone on their roster. It's not known how the Magic view the Rockets' roster.

"Unless something changes and they get a great offer, they're going to keep him," one source close to Smith said.[/rQUOTEr]

Pretty much. I've said this before, howard isn't getting traded. Orlando has a better chance of signing him or him not opting out than taking back bad contracts. The only team I really see is chicago. If chicago wants to make a deal, they could and it would partially satisfy orlando. Houston has 0 and gsw would have to start with curry.

    Chandler - Morris
    Felton - Dalembert
    Gallinari- Lowry
    Mozgov- Patterson
    Knicks 1st - knicks 1st
    Warriors 2nd- ?
    Warriors 2nd- ?

Is that too much? Replace Patterson with Lee?

What 2nd round picks do we own?

    Dragic
    Martin
    Parsons
    Scola
    DH

If we don't get Howard, go get Bogut. [IMG]

No, you keep Lee, because he and DHoward are tight.

True, but then we'd need to trade for a back up PF/C. Hill isn't going to cut it. Not sure about Smith.

Thanks for the explanation and I can see your point about agent driving it and not caring.

I do think you still have to pay taxes if you work in a tax state but live in a tax free state. I live/work on a boarder town. The people that work in GA (tax) but live in TN (no tax) actually pay more GA state tax than if you lived in GA. They see this as benefiting from working in the state but not supporting it through sales and property taxes so they actually hit you harder.

The opposite is also true. If you live in GA but work in TN, you have to pay GA state tax on your TN income.

I would go to war with that line up. Only problem is who's coming off the bench. For the love of God please don't let it be J.Flynn and Squid.

Sean Deveney: Kyle Lowry is one guy Rockets are NOT expected to consider trading. When I told him he said, "I heard, but you never know in this business."

Trade Lowry, bring over Llul next season (Dragic is not with the team in this situation because he's either traded or not resigned--due to cap space). Sign Howard and Deron in the off season. Try to keep one of Scola or Martin (GREAT complementary players to Howard), everyone else is available for trade.

Aren't C-Lee and Dwight best buddies?

Why would best friends not want to be on the same team?

Trade anyone for Dwight. Worst case scenario: he leaves after the season, we tank for a year and finally get out of this cycle of mediocrity. Best case scenario: he likes it here and recruits Deron.

That's a risk I'm willing to take, especially since the current Rockets bore me to sleep.

They should consider him, if we lose Howard we can properly rebuild next year like some1 else suggested.

That sounds good in theory, but how often does a team really find gold after just one season of bad play? I think it is more realistic to expect us to be in "tank" mode for at least 3-4 years before we are able to draft and develop the talent required to lead us to a title. No one player is going to take a team from the lottery to the finals in his rookie season.

    Tim Duncan.

Though that is a special case since David Robinson was injured the season before.
