Nobody is losing games on purpose. Trading your veterans and playing young guys does not mean losing on purpose. I will be hoping for that top 5 pick just like you though.

I had an interesting back and forth with clutch and Carl h months ago about how much worse the rockets would have been if they simply would have not signed dalembert and traded Scola and Martin.

The conversation kept on coming back to Thabeet, and how his play could have been bad enough to cost the rockets wins. I didn't agree with that because mchale could have just found ways to win in small ball.

It's an interesting conversation to have but the opinions are all over the place on how bad and to what extent would it have taken to be that bad to compete for a top pick with the likes of the bobcats, wizards, etc.

Imo if its even an argument, then there is no way they would have been that bad without purposefully losing games like monty Williams did at the end of the season last year w the hornets but you would need the coach to have that kind of buyin all season long.

Long story short. I do not think the rockets would have been that bad enough if they simply would have gone young(no dally, Scola, Martin), and could not purposefully lose games without de-valuing all of their young players. That is my opinion and you are entitled to your own.

You should have already known that. Orlando just hired a new gm who hasn't even spoken a word to dwight and they probably know they have till training camp to make deals to convince dwight to stay. The rockets on the other hand are trying to get a high enough prospect in the draft that they might be able to turn around in a few months and
Use as a centerpiece in.a dwight trade.

Nobody from Houstons front office expected it to happen tonight I can guarantee you that. However, aquirong drummond or lillard with the 5th or 6th pick is something they are expecting to do along with maybe aquiring the oh so important secondary player in someone like josh smith if they can get him tonight along with their pick.

    I disagree.

I think if the Rockets were planning to team Dwight up with Dwill then they have to get it done before FA opens.

All Signs point to Dwill signing quickly and if the Rockets don't have Dwight on the team then the Rockets are simply not an option for him.

Yes. If a secondary star to pair alongside dwight is available tonight, now is the time to aquire him.

I hope not. He is not worth the effort. No Dwight coming over.

Allegedly, they've already spoken, but Hennigan did not discuss the details of their conversation.

To be fair the rockets sources have came out to say they they do not have interest in Dwill but rather are focusing their attention to going after Eric Gordon instead where I think they feel a little bit more in control of the situation and they feel strong that Dragic is a keeper.

Take what you want from that, but you can make a case that they might be better off trying to aquire Gordon & retain Dragic than focusing all their efforts in a crap shoot like Dwill.

I didn't mean literally. I meant they haven't pulled out all the stops yet to force him into signing long term or agreeing to be traded. That's the conversation I'm refering to. As long as Orlando has time, they will wait it out as long as they can.

I agree that i think DWill is not a target. It looks like Dragic is the target at PG. Howard is the target at C. Camby as backup. Scola, DMo, and Patterson at 4. Parsons and Morris at SF.

I think the Rockets are trying to acquire pieces for Howard using Lowry, 12, 16, and 18. Livingstone, Leuer, and Martin will be used to match salary.

Gordon would be a good option if they could get him. New Orleans would match unless the Rockets work out a sign and trade. Rockets cupboard would be pretty bare to work sign and trade. maybe the Rockets could give them Llull and/or the Dallas pick not to match.

Magic Unmoved By Rockets' Pick Acquisitions, Unlikely To Deal Howard Soon Read more:

The Magic front office is unmoved by Houston's attempt to put together a package of draft picks in an effort to trade for Dwight Howard, according to sources.

Orlando is unlikely to deal Howard on draft night, or in the immediate future.

New general manager Rob Hennigan was hired last week by the Magic.

Sources have said that Howard would be unlikely to sign a new deal with the Rockets regardless of the circumstances.

and the Hornets said they wouldn't trade Chris Paul. They ended up trading him twice.
