I fully agree this was a vicious attack and I am not trying to lessen this attack. The point I am making though is that we shouldn't jump to conclusions about why this attack took place. As the shooting of Rep. Giffords shows it often takes awhile to get all of the facts about a case and often first conclusions are wrong with the attack on Lara Logan we may never know all of the facts. The fact is that people do violent things in a mob situation no matter where it is. For example in these :

    <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Wc_SgpyJWRY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

    <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qnmizdZ9ewQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I also fully agree that demonizing Egyptians or Islam based on this is uncalled for. One thing we should keep in mind is that Egyptian women and soldiers who we can presume most of which are Muslim saved Lara Logan.

    I agree.

    I agree.

Wait a second...who was the one that stated we should not jump to conclusions?

    Oh right...that was you.

Do you think the people that saved her were not Egyptians or Muslims?

Scratch that there is no point in discussing such issues with you.

I wished I was there to save her. I would have saved her so good.

Of course they were Egyptians and most likely most of them were Muslims. But your post is funny because you say we should not make assumptions about the perpetrators but then go on to make assumptions about the saviors in the very same post...when it is rather likely that the demographics of both are similar.

If you don't see the obvious inconsistency in your post...

It's also funny how you and FB preemptively make the usual PC statements.

Regardless of that and what happened on that square - I have been to the Middle East several times and several of my female friends have been there as well. It is a fact that the attitude towards women, and consequently the treatment of women, is largely different from the Western world in that part of the world, unfortunately. Not by everyone of course, but on average. And especially if you are clearly a foreign woman and dress differently (it does not have to be provocative by Western standards).

    Would you dispute that?

No, I was commenting on your snarky comment to rocketsjudoka trying to discredit and denounce his real and up close experience in Indonesia because it doesn't fit your narrative that you want to present.

As a staunch opponent of PC you don't know what you're talking about. What I do tire of is people who are bigoted and get called on merely claiming that anyone who speaks out against their bigotry is PC.

Do you not see the inconsistency in rocketsjudoka's post?

"Let's not jump to conclusions about the perpetrators."

"The saviors must have been Muslims."

    Come on now.

I wasn't commenting on the argument by either side. Only your quip at Judoka's Indonesian experience.

    Dude, really?

The whole "everybody does it"/"it's all the same" fairness for the sake of fairness schtick is getting really ridiculous.

That article should be required reading for every moron in the hangout who thinks it's somehow ok to make jokes about rape.

Was she raped or fondled? Rape is a strong word and it means something was inserted into her vagina which is worse than just, in respect to the situation, fondling. Either way my condolences to Lara and this is just another situation proving what aggressive, hairy creeps Arab men are.
