This cannot be in the interest of David Stern...I think. So I would not be surprised if something is done about it in some way at some point.
If he made Sloan leave, I can only support all of his endeavors. I don't care how "good" of a coach Jerry was. To me, he was a dirtbag. I don't know him off of the court, but I'm sure he's a decent person. Anyone associated with Utah disgusts me though. I blame Stockton, Malone and that nerd who wiped his face before shooting freethrows. (Hornacek)
oh it is. NY back on the map. it's always good for the L. the NBA is different from the NFL. parity in the NFL is the reason why it's so popular. SUPERSTARS in big cities in the NBA are the reason why the NBA was popular in the 80s. these stars joining forces in big media cities will only increase the interest of the general public. so stern definitely loves this.
If I recall correctly Stern adressed this at the press conference today as one of the things he's looking to get fixed.
wow, we can see it in this year's all star game where the east is basically the Celtics and Heat teams. So in a couple of years, when the celtics big 3 retires/drops off, we gonna have a NYC & Miami vs Lakers and ....
Why isn't anyone on here happy about this?!?!?! This means Utah will be mediocre at best for many years to come....AWESOME!
I will keep myself from making a complety sarcastic and tasteless joke regarding that city as a whole and their media in general.
Here's a link for those who're interested: http://www.nba.com/video/channels/nba_tv/2011/02/19/20110219_stern_presser.nba/ Stern adresses the big market/parity/superfriends 'issue' from 9:54-11:20.
It will be interesting to see when the pendulum swings back on the "superfriends" idea. Right now, it's en vogue to team up with your buddies and try to win a ring that way. At some point, one big superstar will be a free agent and completely buck the trend and sign with a team that will be "his team."
And by the way, this is the natural consequence of having a salary cap. Why are players seeking these big markets? Endorsements. Money. There's no way for other teams to compete with the money these players will be making in larger markets because the league doesn't allow them to pay more in salary to sway them over.
So, Felton in trade talks, is that a good thing? New York signed him on to expire after next season, so it'll work for getting Deron, IF the Knicks can keep the cap to a reasonable number. But Felton is included in many talks that involve Carmelo. Oh, well. Everyone wants to go to some version of the SuperFriends now.
