Ed Reed is a champion. Andre should have said what Ed Reed said last year 10 years ago. I put that on Andre for not speaking out then... he's just 10 years too late. When this franchise was BSing the fans the past 12 years we had a unspoken leader now that we are cleaning house and facing the truth now he can't take it. I agree with whatever Bill O'brien said no time for favoritism, babying or putting a milk bottle in somebody's mouth all that BS is history. Either your down with this team or your not.

I was thinking this exact same trade bro. Qb rotation would be Cousins, Fitzpatrick and Savage then. We gain some draft picks that puts us in a better position. We can draft a receiver early in the draft next year if we don't trade for one.

I love how nobody is saying that this is a distraction.

It was tough to listen to morning radio. Switched over to 610 on a break (first mistake) and John Lopez aka Mr Asinine was going off about how we owe it to AJ to trade him. So was Nick Wright. Blah blah blah.

We've taken care of AJ. He signed his contract without a gun to his head. AJ will be here when the season begins. The Texans need to be patient. He'll have to play..after a couple of wins early in the season, he'll change his tune.

This reminds me to never put a player on a pedestal.

    1. He's a great player. One of the greatest players of all-time. We won't get appropriate value by trading him.

    2. We are coming off a terrible season, a season where our record was significantly worse than our roster.

    3. We just had a killer draft.

    4. We got rid of the biggest problems on the team (Kubes and Schaub).

    5. All the main pieces from the 12-4 team are still in place and now healthy.

    6. We have actually upgraded the QB position.

    7. Cousins or some other second stringer is no guarantee to be any better than Fitzy and Co.

Washington has TWO #1 receivers with D-Jax and The Frenchman. They don't need Dre.

Dre would make two number 1 receivers number 2 and 3 receivers.

If the Texans don't trade him I hope he retires ala Barry Sanders

Look, I love Andre. He's one of the greatest receivers of all time and has represented our city/team as well as anyone could ever expect. Under the circumstances, I understand where he's coming from.....Yes, he's made millions ...so what...He's gone above and beyond....dude wants to win...He'll go into the Hall a Texan. JOE MONTANA got traded at the end. It happens all he time. And he had won multiple Super Bowls.
The Texans knew before the draft about this and as usual decided to sit on their hands instead of moving him for a late first or whatever. Bossman didn't want to risk the "public backlash"...and wants Dre to retire as a Texan no matter what.
This is on the Texans, as they should be looking out for the future of our franchise.

These trade proposals are ridiculous. Nobody is giving you a potential starting QB and a high pick for Andre, regardless of whether they need him or not.

You are realistically talking about a 4th or 5th round pick, maybe a pair of them. If you are LUCKY there is a team that is desperate that would offer a 3rd, but I'd be absolutely stunned.

    Andre isn't going anywhere.

True. But their receiving core is set and plus they have a dynamic tight end. If the Texans do trade Dre, probably only receiver needy teams will trade for him. Like Carolina, Cleveland, Raiders, etc.

Again, ridiculous. No one is offering a first round pick for Andre.

They are. The value of a receiver like Andre to a young QB they want to develop is huge. On top of that, the Texans have no reason to think they can't compete this year and next.

Bitter? If he doesn't wanna be here then I'd hate to force him to stay. It helps the Texans if he retires cap wise anyways.

Everybody always says they feel bad for Dre and Larry Fitz but player and fans need to understand there's not always a story book ending to everyone's career. Everyone can't be Jerry Rice. Andre will be the highest paid receiver in the league this year. His cap number I think is something like $15 mil, those idiots on 610 forget there's this thing called the salary cap so if traded he's not going to a contender. Him going to the Browns makes the most sense. They need a wide out for Johnny Football, they have the cap space to take his salary and they have two high draft picks in the 2015 draft which if we acquire can be used to get the qb for the future. It would be poetic, but it won't happen mainly because of how much he makes and in turn dead money his leaving would create. I could see Dre having a solid season here with improved qb protection but he is 32 yrs old we couldn't lean on him forever. If he wants out he'll have to wait until after the season, maybe depending on the type of season he has we can get a third rounder for him so we could use that in trade for our future qb. Next year is the year of the qb Marriota, Winston, Hundley...

How about "if the Texans don't trade him I hope they can convince him to stay".

Not that Andre has even made up his mind about leaving yet... which is a conclusion everyone seems to be jumping to.

You just seem to relish the idea of AJ spitting in the face of the franchise and the whole thing going pear-shaped, which is not very surprising.

What was a HUGE part of the 2-14 problem last year? Signing Ed Reed

Who was the biggest player advocate for signing him? Andre Johnson

Ummm...Schaub. Schaub was a huge part of team in 2012. Schaub was a huge part of the problem in 2013. I would guess about a third of the blame for the drop in performance last year rests on the decline in performance at the QB position.
