It's not artificial, it's tech. Sure housing regs and attitudes can be better, but when you have billion dollar startup unicorns and trillions dollar companies put massive campuses there, places like Oakland and Venice Beach become massively expensive from before. Stock millionaires can buy up shithole properties for millions of dollars, tear it down and rebuild with whatever they like.
