That's his idea. No one bothers to take his posts seriously after the famous thread "Terrence Jones: A lesser Howard", so he catfishes posters in. I thought CBL was an acronym for a publication but wow... GG coach you got me this time.
It's not our choice. Asik will leave and we will get nothing in return. It's called free agency. We can keep him for a year that's it. So what's the point?
Two years actually. 3 year deal, played 1 so far. Two years left. The point is if you think you are a team trying to win now you only trade a piece that helps you do that if you are getting back a piece that helps more.
I thought about this too, but he won't unless that trade clearly makes us title favorites. If Asik is rumbling along perfectly as our backup C and we arent having chemistry issues, then he will probably wait till offseason to get value for him.
Asik isn't an all-star, but he's pretty close to a no-stats all star like Battier was. Didn't you see that article that showed Houston was a +6 against the league with Asik on the court, and a minus tons when he went off? Right now, we need him. If he gets traded we run the risk of having the same thing when Howard leaves the floor. Houston needs another competent big defender in the middle to back up Howard if we lose Asik. He doesn't have to be as good, just not downright terrible like our other guys. Smith, Jones, D-Mo should all improve, but maybe not quick enough to be difference makers next year.
Howard Gasol Chandler Hibbert Lopez Noah Horford Cousins Garnett Bosh Some may say Garnett and Bosh are PF's, but that doesn't change the FACT that they played Center last year. You could throw in Duncan, also, but it's debatable whether he's a Center. There are lot of other guys who have an argument to be as good as Asik, such as Monroe Jefferson Pekovic Sanders Bogut and Bynum if healthy.
I know that. But it's really just 1 year since after that no one will give up anything for him since he is an expiring contract anyway. You have to move him this year while he still is valuable. After that teams will just wait until he is a free agent. We aren't going to win a ring next season - so Omer is basically a 1 year rental at this point. Sure 2 years if you are willing to let him walk. I would try to find a power forward for him.
