Good analysis, good for the org to add a female commentator...for me she just needs to mature a bit...
If Ryan Hollins is selling himself as a hypeman--basically Gus Johnson without the play-by-play--then Cayleigh has a niche that she can fill as the stats-nerd. I do enjoy a little of both in my broadcasts.
In what way? Because she definitely isn’t anywhere close to as goofy as Ryan. And even Craig sometimes brings up some “uhhhh” topics.
I thought she did really well. She had good info and good timing. I would not mind her being permanent.
I agree that she doesn't have an ideal speaking voice. It's pretty shrill and not super well enunciated. But she is obviously smart and passionate about her job and that means a lot. You obviously don't just want a professional broadcasting voice that knows nothing about the game either. You ideally want both. Even Ackerman's voice can grate a little and Hollins just feels like space filler. I'm on the fence for now.
She did well. I'd MUCH prefer her to Ryan's manufactured enthusiasm and determination to begin speaking before he really knows what he wants to say.
I thought she did ok, just needed to realise she was part of the main event and not squeezing all her points into a quick sideline cross. I’d be keen to see her get some more chances.
Hmm…I wonder if it would be creepy if I made a video inviting her to be a guest on my show that doesn’t yet exist. Has to be in person, no Zoom.
