It is a 3 year, $17.4m offer with a 4th year team option. Lowry is especially necessary since our starting PG is not known for playing solid defense.
Doom and Gloom post. Why wouldn't he? He knew we'd match this (and pretty much any) deal...Kyle's not dumb.
He is tough, he is fast, he has good court vision, tenacious rebouner and lots of passion.....but he has only one speed and that is FAST. Consequently, he was always going into traffic like the running of the bulls stepping on someone's shoe and twisting his ankle. I say match. But if we don't, I'm sure morey will figure something out.
No. He's earned the chance to start somewhere. He wants to start. We're not going to start him. And you know, part of me would love for him to get his chance to start in the NBA - but the Rockets fan in me just wants him to remain a Rocket at all costs! I love that guy and always get excited to see him enter the game and change the pace. I love that little bowling ball!
The question is "Would I match it" My answer is "No" I leave it up to the Rox though.....gonna be fun to see. DD
You know Brooks could be gone in a year or so. so better not question. Kyle is a good starter IF Brooks goes. Brooks has more value officially but Kyle is doing his share to become more valuabe himself. He did say he wanted the starting job but he also stated he was feeling comfortable in Houston. Don't make him look like a cancer.
I think he wants to start, he won't be starting here...... So, I don't think he wants to come back.....and would like to stay in Cleveland. I am just a little surprised that the Cavs did not try to work something out with DM first. DD
i do believe the rockets will match it Morey didnt just want this guy so bad last year only to let him go like this its not a terrible overpay but its probably a little more than what the rockets wanted to pay this probably would mean though that Brooks will want even more money which i dont think daryl would want to give him too much like i mentioned in a previous post former MIP winners have always been severely overpaid and have flamed out since. the only ones that have gotten better were Arenas, Jermaine O'neal and McGrady and they all have had terrible injuries..the jury is still out on granger though.
Don't know if you are being serious, but personally, I would also jump ship if I was given a chance to start. We aren't talking about a superstar abandoning his team. We're talking about a roleplayer wanting to find his place in the world. Get drafted -> Become a starter -> NBA Champion -> individual awards. That's usually the mindset, in my opinion, of the path NBA players should follow.
Good lord, I hope that is not what my post looked like? I don't think that, I just want him to be happy....and if he truly wants to start, then I could see that being a bit of an issue in Houston. I honestly expect Morey to keep his word and match...... Gonna be fun to watch. DD
While I think the price tag is high, I would match it. Matching Lowry's offer would increase our chance of keeping scola by showing our determination.
Lowry did say he would like to start for a ball club during a few interviews this year. if Cavs does sign Lowry, it's very cleared that Mo will be gone. who cares if it's the Cavs or not. he wants playing time.
Then I'll reword my question. Why would you not match? 3years at that money isn't going to hamstring the Rockets.
Easiest match ever. First of all, the $24 mil over four years figure needs to be erased - effectively, it's $17 mil guaranteed over three years. So you're talking about a three-year contract starting at $5 mil next season. What in the world did any of you guys voting no expect Lowry to get? Did you honestly expect Lowry to get less than $4 mil/year, in the ultimate of markets? At most, it's overpaying value by $1 mil (though I think it's perfectly in line) - and the short-term deal (only three years) makes it very palatable. Is it really worth saving $1 mil a season to cut loose the asset that is Lowry? The Rockets were never going to be a major contender for cap space, anyway. It's highly, highly likely this team makes a major trade later this summer or by the deadline. It's simply about keeping the pieces together that can make this team a contender - and one of those is Kyle Lowry. Steve Blake will be a backup PG for the Lakers, and he's earning $16 mil over four years. Can you really argue that Lowry isn't worthy of $17 mil over three? This is a very simple match.
